Races
From Hyrule
Every character in Hyrule belongs to a race, with Hylian and Shiekah being the majority in hyrule. The race of a character defines what abilities it may have, its hometown, and other things.
There are 11 races used so far, though only 7 are playable.

Hylian- the major race in hyrule.
Shiekah- second-most popular, a race of shadows.
Rito are not playable, although they are featured prominently.
Gerudo are not playable, although they are featured prominently.
Kokiri are not playable, and are featured rarely. Most are found solely in the Deku Woods where the Great Deku Tree lives, though a few have been no to go beyond the forest's borders.
Minish are not playable. The only appearance of one thus far is as one of Leth's companions.
