Stalfos are the skeletal monstrosities one expects from nightmares, but are very real in Hyrule, where they serve as some of the strongest monsters in the evil army.
[edit] Appearance
In general, a Stalfos is simply a reanimated skeleton. They are usually quite large, and it's hard to tell what creature the skeleton is from. It doesn't appear to be human, but perhaps a Lizalfos. They usually wield a scimitar and shield or a spear, and when hit enough with a weapon, they will collapse into a pile of bones on the ground. After a short time, they will reassemble themselves--Unless, that is, the pile of bones is destroyed by bombs.
[edit] Intelligence
They show uncanny intelligence in the ability to put themselves back together without assistance, and fight like a trained soldier with a sword and shield.
[edit] Role
Though most Stalfos hold a relatively small position as soldiers in Ganon's army, some have been entrusted with guarding vital assets to the evil warlord.
