[edit] Races

In HA2, there is a specific way to creat characters, the first step, usually, is to choose your race, the race and their abilities:

Hylians +3 to INT, Weak to Shadow, Strong to Light, Favor of the Goddesses – Free healing spell (equal to L1 Life)

Humans +3 to DEF, No resistance bonuses, Human Ingenuity – Automatic +2 bonus to skill checks

Deku Scrubs +3 to AGI, Very weak to Fire, Very strong to Nature, Spit a Deku Nut – Once per three combat rounds can spit a Deku Nut to try to stun an enemy. An innate check must succeed to stun the enemy.

Sheikah +3 to AGI, Weak to Light, Strong to Shadow, Shadowmeld – Once per three combat rounds, can attempt to remove self from combat for 1 round by becoming invisible

Zora +1 to SPI, Weak to Earth, Strong to Water Swimming – Can swim in water

Gorons +3 to STR, Weak to Water, Strong to Earth, Spirit of Dragonbane – Can channel famous Goron Hero for +3 bonus to strength once per three combat rounds. Effect lasts one round.

Fairies +3 to INT, Weak to Shadow, Strong to Light. Tiny – Can fit through some locks and other tight spaces

[edit] Stats

The race you choose cannot be changed once your character is finished. The next step usually taken is to choose your class, Scholar, Vagabond, or Grunt, with sub-classes available later-on. The class, combined with the race you choose, gives you a specific stat sheet. Stats are important throughout the game. The stats:

STR Adds to damage caused on hit

DEF Chance to evade attack

AGI Chance to hit, adds to DEF

INT Chance to successfully use skill, adds to Magic damage

SPI Amount of magic power available, impacts resistances, increases with level ups.

[edit] Class

However, each class will have a different starting stat sheet, and the race applied adds on to that.

  SCHOLAR

STR 1 (+1 DMG per hit)

DEF 2 (+2 to DEF rating)

AGI 1 (+1 to Attack Chance)

INT 3 (+3 to DMG per spell)

SPI 3 (+30 to Max MP; +3 to all Resists)

  VAGABOND

STR 2

DEF 1

AGI 3

INT 3

SPI 1

  GRUNT

STR 3

DEF 3

AGI 2

INT 1

SPI 1

So, a grunt/zora will have different stats than a vagabong/human.

Ya with this so far?

Simpler: To figure out your stats, you take your base class stats (just above) and add the stat bonus that your race grants. Other than the normal stats, HP and SPL follow different rules. Here’s an example of a stats profile:

Narrator (L1 Hylian Scholar)

STR 1 (Base) 1

DEF 2 (Base) 2

AGI 1 (Base) 1

INT 3 (Base) + 3 (Race) = 6 (Total)

SPI 3 (Base) 3

HP 20 (Base) 20

SPL 3 (L x Base) + 3 (SPI) = 6 (Total)

[edit] Misc

Some items will increase your stats, and level ups and abilities gained through the standard rules set can help as well. There are also alignments that, combined with your base class, will determine what main class you get.
