The Fob Program – Talk show

The Fob program this year will be in a talk show format with games and skits as parts of the talk show. It will be divided into two days and will run in the following format.

First Day

Opening (10 min) – introduction, interviewing kids, showing off talents

On the first day, the fob program will open up as a talk show. There will be two main MC’s. They will briefly explain what the fob program is. Then, they will randomly call up kids from the teams and start interviewing them. They may also ask them to show off whatever skills they have, such as singing and dancing. The following are sample questions that can be asked.

“How do you like the summer camp so far?”
    “Do you have any talent?”
“How well do you know your camper?”
“What was the most embarrassing moment?”
    “Who’s your favorite counselor?”

Interviews are to be conducted in Korean.

Word game (30 min)

Next, we will move onto the word game. The MC’s will give the floor to one of the fob counselors to explain the game. A few selected counselors will play the game in front of the kids as an example. Next, each group will be called up and play the game. The following is the description of the game, which will be exactly the same as last year.

A word both in Korean and English will be displayed on the screen. A kid who is the most fluent in Korean in his/her team will come up and face the crowd, away from the screen. The rest of the members of the team will be in a line, facing the kid. Each member will then try to explain the word on the screen using only Korean and motion. If the kid with the most fluent Korean guesses the word correctly, a new word will come up on the screen and the next member in the line has to explain the new word. Each team will be given one minute. The team that gets the most words correctly wins.

Interview (10 min) – interviewing kids, showing off talents

After the word game, the main MC’s will call up and interview a different group of randomly chosen kids. They may be asked to show off their talents such as singing and dancing, just like in the beginning of the talk show. The MC’s will then give the floor to a different fob counselor to explain the next game.

Telephone game (30 min)

Next portion of the talk show is the telephone game. In this game, the members of a team will line up in a line. The first person in the line will be a kid who is the most fluent in Korean. An instruction in Korean will be whispered to the first person in the line. That person then has to whisper the exact same instruction to the next member of the line. This will continue on until the last member receives the instruction and performs that instruction. A designated counselor will evaluate how well the instruction has been carried out.

The game will run in tournament format. Two teams will come up at a time, and whichever team that performs the instruction with higher accuracy will win.

Also, when the two teams come up, they will engage in a “compliment battle”, where a group member from one group has to make a compliment of a group of member from the opposing group. This will fire up the campers.

Closing (10 min) – interviewing kids, showing off talents

Depending on the amount of time left, the main MC’s may call up a different group of campers and interview them. The MC’s will close the first day portion of the fob program.
