Theme/Mood Trying to Be Conveyed

Feeling of peace, feeling of comfort, feeling of closeness, at this point in camp the kids should feel good enough to be sitting together around the campfire, just enjoying an overall feeling of belonging and familial closeness.

Transitional Time Itinerary (build-up)

Immediately after Miss Baltimore, we would have the kids wash up any make-up for the Miss Bmore participants and change into their “campfire” clothes. Warm-ups, sweats, etc. because it will be a little colder outside at this point.

They will come back and have their snacks or drinks (whatever it is that the adults want them to munch on before the campfire).

When all students have arrived back in the Tabrenacle, we will start off with 2 songs of praise. (1 medium paced/1 slower paced, songs will be chosen beforehand)

Materials

  • 200 tea candles and clear cups (1 tea candle per 1 cup)
  • Walkie Talkies (as many as we can get, preferably at least 12–20 range)
  • 1 acoustic electric, 2 microphones (and chords for the microphones [keep in mind, one chord needs the converter piece for the amp])
  • Acoustic Amp
  • Extension chords (possibly will only need 3–4 orange long extension chords). If we use the Acoustic amp, we will be running the wire from a power outlet in the director’s lodge, NOT the generator (generator is too loud and distracting, we will not use it at this year’s campfire)
  • Printouts of the songs we are going to sing. (they will be typed up and printed out beforehand) Deliberately printing ½ number of sheets so that kids have to share with their neighbor. More bonding, more closeness.
  • Trash bags (to sit on), we’re looking at around 100 trash bags. (so however many packs it takes to total 100 trash bags).
This is more so for the counselors, parents and anyone
who will be sitting on the grass, during campfire, because there will be dew and so the
grass could very well be wet. The students sitting on the sand (volleyball area) do not
really have to worry so much. We will have everyone sit on the ground to avoid the
need to carry around benches and chairs, also it’ll keep everyone level, and we’ll all be
able to see the skits that take place standing up front and center.
  • Megaphone
  • Small boombox
    • CD for campfire background music (I will prepare beforehand)
    • Extra batteries for the boombox
  • Tiki Torches [same number of torches as there are walkie talkies] (set up along the route to campfire; later they will brought up to the campfire and used as stage lighting)
  • Flashlights (for counselors)

Preparation Process

  1. Campers will settle down after their last song of praise. Asked to be seated. Eyes closed. Note that soft music will already be playing as the last song is wrapping up, smooth transition. Only want the stage lights on for praise, all other Tabrenacle lights off. (music fades out as testimony speaker comes up)
    1. Leads into Testimony. Chair up front (or speaker can stand, their preference). After the testimony has been given. End in a prayer. Ask the kids to remain eyes closed after the prayer. (music fades in during the prayer) After the amen, give about 20 seconds of meditation time…

3.Then campers will listen to the message being read by counselor over microphone. (would like 2 counselors reading, ONE in English and ONE in Korean; message will be straight from the bible, “Jesus said…” etc.) After message, a minute of meditation. (music still playing)

4.Counselors will come and quietly tap groups one at a time to stand up and exit the tabernacle. Upon exiting, they will each be handed a cup of light. And 1 team counselor will lead up each group along the trail to the campfire.

5.When they arrive, they will be led to sit along the sand. By the end of the line, any campers, counselors, or adults who have to sit on the grass will be handed trash bags. Theoretically, the music should still be playing and the mood should still be calm. At this point, the students will be handed printouts of the praise song lyrics. (1 printout per every 2 campers)

6.The students will use their cups of light to help them read the words off the paper if it is too dark.

LIGHT THE FIRE, GO PAT KONG GO!!!

7.Happy, joyful, uplifting praise. MC get to work!

  • MC will have to lead this session at the campfire. Want a little bit of humor to liven the mood after the praise has concluded. We want the kids feeling comfortable and happy to be here. It’s the last night, make them feel loved and comfortable with their brothers and sisters that they have now found in Christ. “Are you guys having fun?!” (that kind of stuff)

8.Leads into group skits (Hana Production skits). After 5 groups have gone, we will take a 5 minute intermission to let the kids stretch and just chitchat a little. Then once the next group is ready, we’ll start back up. Sitting through 10 skits nonstop is just too long without a break, and hard to keep attention.

  • Counselors, please remember there will only be 2 microphones, so if any campers during the skits choose to just speak their lines without the help of the microphone, they must speak UP. So basically, have them almost be yelling the skit. And be sure that they face diagonally towards the audience as much as possible. We will be in a big area, so loudness is priority.
  • Also, for lighting, we are hoping to perform the skits along side of the campfire. Also, tiki torches will be plugged into the ground creating a border around the stage setup.

9.Fun fun, laugh laugh, cry cry.

10.BAKSOOOOO =) Happy together!

11.Closing remarks: Mr. Kang.

12.Praise happier songs. (2–3 songs) Praise thank you God for this wonderful night and this wonderful opportunity to bring so many of His children together at this camp.

13.HUG TRAIN!!! (play CD on boombox)

14.Final closing praise song.

15.Go back to Tabrenacle for fun games and free time!
