Background
Cloud wasn’t originally born in Hinamizawa, but had lived in the town since he was very young. It’s the only home he has truly known. Growing up, he was somewhat of an outcast, often seeming to think himself slightly better than the rest of the children and yet being rather lonely, all at the same time. There were very few that he actually considered good friends. Over time, these friendships grew strong bonds and he found himself caring deeply about these people. He vowed to protect them, no matter what the cost.
Unfortunately, the cards of fate never seemed to fall in his favour. Around the time when he was seventeen, a rather unfortunate accident took the life of the one man he looked up to – his father. He blamed himself and due to this, left Hinamizawa in search of something, anything. He didn’t know where he would end up going or what he would end up doing, but all he knew was that he had to do something in order to prove to himself that sometimes one just couldn’t combat fate.
It was during his travels that he realized that the true strength of a person doesn’t lie within, but with the bonds of friends. With a newfound understanding, he decided to go back home and face the demons of the past once more.
