Background
Muraki wasn’t a happy child – far from, really, as his family was twisted and far from happy. It was his mother that caused him to love dolls so much, considering that, in her eyes, Muraki was another doll. A pretty, frail little doll.
That was the first step in his twisted life. In fact, his childhood was the root of the tangle of thorns that wrapped around his personality; he was a sick, murderous pervert. However, on the outside, he was charming, well-spoken, and intelligent man that few would find suspicious of hurting another person. You’d come to trust that man and his pleasant smile, and the next thing you knew, he’d be using you.
Though he was a doctor, Muraki still maintained a keen curiosity about the paranormal and the “dark.” He was always interested in the latest murders, and owned a few books dealing with witchcraft and black magic. It was a strange hobby of his, but he found it all fascinating either way; he’d even created a list of “haunted” places to visit one day.
It was while he was doing his personal research, out of boredom and not having other work to do at the time, that the town of Hinamizawa popped up in a book he was reading. It seemed like such a quaint, peaceful little town, but as he read more and more about the festival and the events that transpired in the area, a smile crept along his lips.
It wasn’t too far away to take a short trip to. Especially this close to the festival.
