Joe Dawson is a character from the fictional universe of the Highlander movies and Highlander: The Series, portrayed by actor Jim Byrnes.

Biography/History

Joe Dawson served in Vietnam with an immortal named Andrew Cord. After seeing Cord shot, Joe accidentally stepped on a landmine, blowing both of his legs off. While healing, he was visited by a Watcher named Ian Bancroft, who told him about immortality. Joe Dawson later became the watcher of immortals like Liza Grant and Roy Ferrer, eventually becoming the Watcher of Duncan MacLeod, which he stays to this day.

The rules of a Watcher state that they can only observe and record, but never interfere. Because of the developing friendship between Duncan MacLeod and Joe, he has been forced to break that rule many times, almost leading to his execution by his fellow Watchers.

Joe Dawson plays the blues guitar with consummate skill and deep heart, and despite his mortality, can be very dangerous to his foes and loyal to a fault to his friends--loyal to the end.
