Lessons Characters Must Learn: All characters must have something to learn, either about themselves or the world at large. Once this goal is achieved, the character may potentially come and go from the village at will. This lesson can be as simple or as complicated as you like. For example, Greg House from House MD may need to make peace with his child abuse demons, or he may need to learn to regulate his drug intake. Totally up to the mun. It can be personal, or...whatever you can think of. If you're stumped, say so and the mods will try to help you figure something out! The only exception to this rule is if you would like your character to be permanently bound to the village with NO possibility of leaving. Please do not use this to cop out of giving your character a lesson to learn. It should be reserved for extreme cases, or possibly characters who are canonically dead, and thus have no home to go back to.

Potential Plot: One aspect that we hope to utilise to give Hearts And Minds a unique spin is the option to have one item from your character's past appear randomly within the town. This potential plot device is completely optional, and may be utilised at any time, in any way with in the confines of the game. The item may be big or small, but it should be personal in some way. There is absolutely no limit to the possibility here, kids.
For example, take the character of Gregory House from House MD. House is an amazing doctor. He also suffers chronic pain and has been proven to be a drug addict. Canon indicates he was abused as a child. There are thousands of possibilities here. The item that shows up for House could be a ring his grandmother wore, and maybehe associates it with comfort. Or maybe the belt his father used to punish him when he was a kid. Maybe a love letter he wrote to his high school sweetheart. An artifact he'd recognise from the time he lived in Egypt. The black belt he earned in Karate. Or something more recent, like the golf club he was using the day he suffered the infarction, or a necklace he gave Stacy while they were dating. These are just some possibilities, to give you an idea of what I'm going for with this.
The item can show up anywhere at any time, under any conditions. Your character can react however you feel s/he would react to finding this piece of the past. The effect an be positive or negative, or even neutral. Other people can be affected. This is a plot device meant to get the creativity flowing. it's meant to be fun,a s well as potentially challenging.
