Thomas Epsilon II was introduced officially on August 7, 2002 with the completion of GWN:G. The creator of Tom Epsilon, Derrick Lang, retconned the 'death' of Tom into a very cliché concept of a 'clone' replacing the main character who died. This has been used to also explain Colossus's death in the X-Men, which Derrick sees as being directly stolen from his mind. Regardless, as there were two people who assumed the Tom Epsilon namesake, the clone retconned that was awake during the later Gemini and complete USF saga is known as Tom Epsilon II.
