The Mobile Doll type of mobile suit was a mobile suit that required no human pilot. The suit was completely controlled by by a human who was not onboard but in the manned mobile suit but had to be fed information on specific targets before it would attack. The Mobile Doll concept was a pet project of Colonel Tubarov, who saw the success of his project and claimed them invincible in battle. The concept would return, and many different armies would use mobile dolls in their campaigns.

History

In the creation of the Tallgeese, the MS developers belived they had created a machine too sophistication to be controlled by a single person. The machine, they said, was perfect - it was the human pilots that were the problem. In order to make it a viable weapon, something had to change.

There were two paths that could make Mobile Suit combat a reality: 1) The need for the human pilot would be lession, making the MS an unmanned vehicle. 2) The pilots themselves would be altered to make them perform better.

The former concept evolved into the MOBLIE DOLL (MD) program, short fro MOBLIE Direct Operational Lead Labor. Moblie Dolls required an operating system to be installed on the MS, They could be controlled directly, or left to their onboard Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Some people saw the creation of unmanned of combat MS as a solution to the warfare that long plagued the Earth Sphere. Without the casualties that resulted from traditional combat, the most horrifying aspect of war, death, was all but removed. But the MD was fundamentally a weapon of mass destruction, and when you remove a lot of the humans from that destruction, warfare becomes all the more meaningless.

The MD project was funded by the Romefeller Foundation who used MD to take over the UESA. Throught the mass-production of MD, they could maintain and expand their command of the Earth Sphere without needing to train alot of new pilots and cutting number pilots needed to be train. OZ, the group who most relied on manned MS, did not like the move towards unmanned suits, and its leader, Treize, fought against their use by the Foundation. While he proved, at the time, that a human pilot was still superior to an AI, development of MD continued and when human polit has a mobile suit that can somewhat match a mobile dolls ability the human pilot almost always wins they did tests after the war and confermed it.

The first mass-produced MD were based on existing Leos and Tauruses. The first MS type created as an MD was the Virgo. These were the foundation on which the more advanced Mercurius and Vayeate were created. Meanwhile, other scientists were working on a system that would allow human pilots to have total mastery over their MS.
