[edit] Web 2.0
[edit] Time line
.swf led to a program from John's Hopkins - Time line tool. Still working on that one.
Timeline Creator Software 2.0
This document contains important information about the Timeline Creator Software developed by:
Johns Hopkins University's Center for Educational Resources http://www.cer.jhu.edu
Technical Support
A user manual for the Timeline Creator is available at: http://timeline.cer.jhu.edu
Files bundled with the software download
Creator.jar - ("The Creator Application") This file allows the designer to enter the Events and to configure the Timeline Template interface. The Creator Application creates and saves the Events and interface configurations to a storage file (xml). JAVA 1.3.1 or later must be installed on the computer for the Creator.jar file to work. The free JAVA install is available for download at http://www.java.com/getjava/. The Creator Application can create two files: timeline.xml - ("The Timeline Storage File") This XML file is what the Timeline Template (timeline.swf) reads in to generate the flash version. timeline_preview.html - ("The Timeline Static HTML Preview") This file is an HTML file that allows a user to view a static HTML version of the Timeline that can be printed.
timeline.swf - ("The Timeline Template") This file reads the Events and configurations saved in the storage file and creates the timeline. To view the timeline each user will need the Flash 7.0 Player or later (9.0 is strongly recommended) installed which is freely available at http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/.
timeline.html - ("The Timeline HTML Page") This file embeds the timeline.swf into itself allowing the Timeline to be viewed if it was in a website.
Help_Documentation.doc - ("How-To and Help Document") This file will get you familiar with all of the features of the Timeline program and get you started with your first timeline.
Known Issues
1) Event Descriptions not saved when "Save as HTML" is used - When viewing the "timeline-preview.html" file, after "Saving as HTML", all of the descriptions for the events aren't available.
