From Greenthings
My dear old Mom will not let anyone acquire her flowers. She says she can't stand to watch them die.
Which is almost certainly a bit like saying she wouldn't own a puppy since she doesn't want to see it develop old, or read a book due to the fact she can not stand that it will end, or much better but, consume a chocolate since then it would all be gone and all she'd have left to remind her of the superb expertise is the foil wrapper.
Regardless of whether you feel in the divine creator or the Massive Bang theory, there is something to be mentioned for whoever (or whatever!) produced flowers.
I ask you. . . who is not awed by the beauty of a spring rose, fresh with dew, or the fresh appeal of a yellow buttercup, or the fiesta of colors in a bunch of gerberas (gorgeous flowers, awful name!)
We've come to associate the germination and birth of a flower with life itself. We talk about children "blossoming", the "rosy red glow" of a pregnant lady or "satisfied as a rosebud in June". At the end of its brief but outstanding life, most flowers return to the ground from whence they came, in much the very same way as we people do. Properly, most of us.
And flowers have a unique language all their own. Of course, the massive one particular is roses, the traditional symbol of enjoy. But don't be fooled into considering a bunch of flowers from your partner is a sign of his undying affection.
According to the Victorians, who initial assigned a specific language to flowers, giving Candytuft signifies indifference, and Cyclamen represents goodbye, although the poor old orange Lily implies dislike and dissatisfaction.
Pity the poor fellow who presents a prettily wrapped bouquet of flowers to his lady-adore. The flowery language of love he's attempting to send might require translation!Beverly Hills Orchids Beverly Hills, CA 310-503-1200 [ We're Listening To You]
