He fucks them over any time he can, and they're aware he jumped ship- it was kind of hard not to notice when the Mother who'd gone to retrieve him came back emptyhanded and then went for messy public suicide, yay Charms- though he's slippery enough that they don't know exactly what he is yet (though "Exalted" is suspected, obviously). He feels somewhat more connection with the ghosts of the ancient Lintha that patrol the Underworld seas, often wondering if perhaps the race before the Primordial War, the Curse, and so forth was actually worth associating with. The ghost of his wife- well, one of them- the one he was actually in love with. When he found her, he basically had a little flipout and promised to take care of her. Introduction

Refusing a summons is betrayal, punished by torture and death not only of the deserter but his loved ones as well. The only path out of the Family is the Underworld. CoTD: the West, p.86.

Winds was kind of a scaredycat, easily intimidated, and generally assigned to trade, which he was pretty good at; eventually finally got himself enough glory to be assigned to foreign parts. he was probably specifically bullied by someone more powerful than him, and wanted to get away from them... at which point, of course, the person eventually decides to come fuck with him in their free time and drag him back to Bluehaven for an assignment.

at which point, particularly given he's got such nice connections there and doesn't even have to worry about people he knows being around too much, he runs. now, like most ostensibly pureblooded adult Lintha, he had a family. and probably had someone he was actually rather close to. like a wife and kid close to. and he knows damn well that if he runs, they get it. but he does it anyway.

said Enemy of course decides to take it over the top and drag them in to try to lure him out. doesn't work. ah well. they kill him. well. he gets better. Compassion dots move to Conviction and Valor. :d

Later update: got back, stuck back on ship, high suspicion, Terrestrial Exaltation, manipulated the hell out of her, got back to find his wife, slaughtered everything around him.

My way just isn't yours
This is not your crossroads
Gave my soul to someone else
I sold myself and no one else

You stopped my heart
You kept me gasping
For breath

Laughing Glass Shards, Slaughter of Compassion, Keeper of the Sunken Void, Shrouded Betrayal... or whatever she wants to be called today. When her whim is not obvious, she's usually called Nameless Delirium, which she doesn't seem to mind.

She seems to like Winds, in a strange and distorted kind of way, but keeps him away from her most of the time even when he's not on some errand or mission. She has ties of some kind or another with Adorjan, having entertained some of her children once or twice to Winds' knowledge, and has at least two other Deathknights he knows of: Stripped Dignity, a jaded Dusk Caste archer, and Dreams of Their Laughter, a really creepy Fae-Blooded Day Caste whose hobbies include Glamourcrafting, Necrotech, trying to find a merger between the two, and sneaking up behind people to give them hugs. (Rumor has it that Stripped Dignity's title may have something to do with Dreams.)

Like all Deathlords, she clearly has her own agenda, though in her case it's likely she has several agenda, ranging from destroying the world to ravaging it with the Silent Wind to redeeming herself somehow in the eyes of the Sun to seducing the Green Lady and going off to found the Spelljammer setting or something.

Merits/Flaws
Enemy 5 (Lintha)
Haet. He feels somewhat more connection with the ghosts of the ancient Lintha that patrol the Underworld seas, often wondering if perhaps the race before the Primordial War, the Curse, and so forth was actually worth associating with. Given their hatred of the Deathlords, though, he may never find out- or perhaps he's the perfect fellow to change their minds...
Ward 2 (Kara)
The ghost of his wife- well, one of them- the one he was actually in love with. When he found her, he basically had a little flipout and promised to take care of her. Though being undead has put quite a lot of strain on everything, and neither of them really wants to go back to how things were entirely- it was his fault she died, after all- there's still an echo of something that used to be a loving relationship.
