Please drop any names, backgrounds, stories, related NPCs, or anything you like for a not-currently-extant kingdom/country/nation/empire into this box. This isn't exactly me asking you to do the work for me- it's a bit more esoteric than that- but you are definitely going to have an impact on plot relevant to your character if you submit something.
Please tag any entries you make with your name. It's presumed that you can add onto someone else's idea so long as you keep them seperate and properly attributed. If you want to go in a completely different direction, that's fine too. Also, we're presuming Southern, but if you want to make ideas related to someplace else, we can do that.
I hope this will be fun for y'all?
Nate
- I think that an oligarchy could be fun to run. The PCs as a group, cliques, or individuals might find patrons with cooperative or opposing goals that might be neat to flesh out and deal with. The players themselves could cut deals as the oligarchs, but the subjects might not be as honorable as the players (or perhaps more so).
- I think that the area around Gem could be turned into a cultural and material gateway. It's one of the few hospitable places so close to the South, so it could become the clearing house for stuff of the Wyld into Creation and an embassy for Fair Folk to visit and experience Creation. It could also be a cultural exchange for the South. Martial Arts tournaments (vs. Fair Folk?, vising DBs, etc.), art shows from the Threshold, Realm, and the Wyld, safaris in (Haltan?) airships or desert cruises/hunting expeditions would be great opportunities to bring commerce into the area. It could also become a resource for orichalcum with the nearby volcanoes (?).
- We should please have a volcano and a big lake. :3
Hammered ideas:
1) Set up a permanent camp around some good dragon lines. There are certain to be prospective demesnes in the area, White Crow might be happy with that.
2) Organize a recruiting effort. The fastest way to build a population is with immigrants, both skilled and unskilled.
"Freed" slaves will likely be an expensive, but possibly loyal pool of applicants.
Achnaeteon: We'll do a Suikoden! Walk into towns, and find people wanting to have stores.
3) Organize a government for the camp. Obviously we'll want the PCs to be the real movers and shakers, but I think different players will want to either be at the forefront or the background of the bureaucracy. Whether Zhubin will want a temple-manse built, White Crow will want to set up an academy or trading market, Rudeth will want a dojo, Rei will want an orchestra, etc.
I might be thinking that the area's further South than it actually is, but those are my ideas.
