When you get to a switch that you have to throw Cortex to so he can open a bridge for you to get across, throw Cortex across and proceed normally across the bridge. Walk up to the switch and jump once. Notice that you don't move closer to the switch. Try doing a double jump. Doing this will allow you to jump on top on the switch. Move a little in any direction and you will see that you have walked right off the switch but are still standing in the air as though you are still on the switch.
