Japanese ordering for the final fantasy games

The Final Fantasy series was originally created in Japan. When its games were brought to America, some were ommitted or renumbered.
In the American versions:
- Final Fantasy I was released under the same name for the NES.
- Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy III were not released.
- Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II for the SNES.
- Final Fantasy V was not released.
- Final Fantasy VI was released as Final Fantasy III for the SNES.
- All the proceeding Final Fantasy games were released with their original numbers (VII and onwards).
Recent re-releases of the Final Fantasy games in America follow the original numbering system and include Final Fantasy II, III, and V.
