From Glitches
As parents we have so a lot to worry about in regards to our kids. We want to defend them from all of lifes dangers, however we want to accomplish this without having placing unnecessary worry into their lives.
When my youngsters have been little, we started speaking about secrets. What is a very good secret and what is a bad secret? This seemed to be a idea my youngsters could realize, even though accomplishing my aim of not scaring them.
Good secrets are things that you get to inform mommy or daddy. Such as we bought daddy a birthday gift. Today it's a secret but tomorrow we get to tell daddy. One more very good secret is when the principal at school tells you there will be a party for your teacher but nowadays it's a secret. Tomorrow even so we get to tell the teacher.
As your youngsters get a bit older, a good secret might even be your buddy telling you she likes a boy. Although your child may be asked not to tell the boy, your kid could certainly tell you this secret.
So what is a negative secret? A poor secret is a secret that your child is asked to In no way tell. A bad secret may be another child admitting they did some thing incorrect and asking your kid not to tell. It may also be an adult acting inappropriately with your child and telling the child to hold this a secret and not inform mommy.
My kids asked of course, "who will inform us negative secrets?". I began to inform them that undesirable folks inform poor secrets, and quickly realized this is not true at all. Alternatively I chose to inform them that a negative secret can come from each a youngster and an adult who is carrying out something incorrect. To this day I still think that only someone carrying out something incorrect will ask a child to hold a secret from mommy or daddy.
My youngsters and I spent a lot of hours talking about secrets and that mommy and/or daddy should constantly be told secrets. I also assured them that they would Never get in problems for telling mommy or daddy a secret. I can keep in mind a few occasions, my children slipping and telling a excellent secret when they weren't supposed to, but I kept my word and they by no means got in trouble. You see, I have typically heard that an individual acting inappropriately will say "if you tell your mommy, you will get in problems". I never wanted my kid to have a visual image of receiving in difficulty for telling mommy a secret.Dr Edward Berzin MD 6560 Fannin St #1804 Houston, TX 77030 (713)722-0111
