Dirth is the only planet in the Dirth-Mah System, a trinary star system; the central binary star pair, Vishoq and Vishar, is orbited by a small brown dwarf, Vephani. Dirth orbits around this trinary at an average distance of 265,185,911 Miles (2.85 AU). It was once the home of a sprawling civilization, but at some point, estimated many hundreds of thousands of years ago, the Dirthians died, the only remaining remnants of this time long since passed are their fossilized remains and decaying ruins.

Dirth is believed to have once been a much more temperate world, before the catastrophe that wiped out the Dirthians and transformed the entire planet into an almost lifeless, endless desert. Some life continues to live on, despite the odds, eking out some sort of living on this harsh barren planet. The planet is now a world of extremes, frigidly cold at the polar icecaps and unbearably hot near the equator, with the three suns blazing down upon the world. Dirth's atmosphere is breathable air, mostly nitrogen and oxygen, however the extreme temperatures and arid landscape makes the planet unmistakably uninviting.

The planet has three moons, Lut, Shivon and Oreg. The most spectacular is Lut, which glimmers brightly in the sun, with the appearance of almost solid gold, a mostly metallic world; its origins remain shrouded in mystery, though one theory is that it was once the core of a former gas giant, the atmosphere blown away by solar winds, the core drifted over the millennia until being caught up in the gravitational orbit around Dirth. Shivon is a bright orange-red moon, with a mild atmosphere, though completely uninhabitable, the atmosphere comprised of mostly toxic gases; Shivon is also the largest of the three moons of Dirth. The smallest moon, Oreg, is a dull, gray, rocky sphere, not unlike Earth's moon.
