Her current main guitars have been identified as a Gretsch Malcolm Young Signature II, Gretsch Duo Jet, and a black Fender Telecaster Thinline (w/ wide range humbuckers). Her other guitars have been variously identified as including a Gibson Blues King acoustic, Gibson CJ165 Rosewood acoustic, Gibson SJ-300 acoustic, Takamine EAN30C, Gibson ES-335, and Epiphone Les Paul. She's also been seen playing Chris Walla's 2005 Gibson Everly Brothers J-180 acoustic. Her original strings were Gibson Masterbuilt Premium Phosphor Bronze Wound; in 2010, she reportedly used D'Addarios on her Gretsch. Her picks were identified in 2006 as being Dunlop Tortex 0.6mm, and in 2008 as being Planet Waves Delrin .61mms. She uses Dunlop capos, though she's also been seen with a G7th 405 performance capo.

Before 2009, they used Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amps. They're now using Acme heads -- Tegan and Sara use a Lulu, and Ted uses or did use a Varsity. As of 2010, Tegan's Acme Lulu was run through a Dr. Z closed-back 1/12-inch speaker cabinet, miked with a Heil PR30; I would assume Sara and Ted's rigs are similar or (more likely) identical.

Before the Gibsons, they were using Yamaha APX-3M guitars. The Martin acoustics they used from 2000 - 2004 (and the one Ted has been seen with) are Martin 000Ms, apparently modded with pickups and Grover mini tuners. More recently, they've been regularly playing Art & Lutherie Ami acoustics.

Their two main keyboards are a Nord Electro 2 Seventy-Three and Roland Juno-G. They've also been seen with an Alesis Micron, Sequential Circuits 2, and starting with the 2010 Honda Civic tour in place of the Rolands, MicroKORGS. Their glockenspiel is an Angel AX-25N2 children's glockenspiel, and more recently, they've been seen playing a MalletKAT live (though not anymore, apparently). Latin Percussion Shake-It shakers were identified in 2008.

Ted's guitars have been variously identified as including a Fender Starcaster (his main guitar, apparently), Sara's red Malcom Young Gretsch, a Gibson ES-335 Satin Finish, a Jaguar, a Martin acoustic, and a Tele of some sort (possibly a Fender American Deluxe series). On the Con DVD, he was seen with a G&L ASAT. He used a Vox AC30, but now he seems to be using the same rigs as Tegan and Sara. In 2008, his pedals were identified as Fulltone Full-Drive 2 Mosfet, Boss TU-2 and LS-2, MXR Dyna Comp, Ernie Ball Volume, and Line 6 DL4 Delay Modeler. Most of the pedals were powered with a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power unit, and for some time prior to the Full-Drive, he was using an Ibanez TS-9DX. In 2010, his pedalboard include a Boss tuner, Z Vex Super Hard-On, Fulltone Full-Drive 2, "vintage chorus" and a vintage delay (probably the same DL4). His keyboard is a Nord Wave synth. He's been seen with an eBow, and also with the aforementioned MalletKAT.

As of 2008/09, he was using 2 Jazz Basses of some model. One of them has active pickups, a natural finish, no pickguard, a maple fretboard, and mother-of-pearl block inlays; the other has a sunburst finish, tortoise shell pickguard, passive pickups, a rosewood fretboard, and white dot inlays. In 2008, he used David Eden bass amps -- a World Tour 800 head with a 410XLT cab. After that, he used an Ampeg SVT Classic rig: SVT-CL bass head with an SVT- 810E bass enclosure.

Johnny “Five” Andrews apparently uses a Yamaha kit. It is miked with a Shure MS91 and Yamaha Subkick on the kick drum; Shure Beta 57 for snare top; Neumann KM184 on snare bottom and hi-hat; Shure Beta 56 on rack tom; Beta 52 on floor tom; and two Audio-Technica AT4033s for overheads. There are D-Drum triggers on the toms.

For the 2010 tour: FOH engineer Doug McKendrick used a Digidesign console (the consoles he's been using for the past five years), with the Crane Song Phoenix plug-in and a Sony Oxford EQ, and clocked with an Apogee Big Ben. For vocals, he used an McDSP MC4000 multiband compressor, and two Distressors for overall compression. Monitor engineer Chandy Kilburn mixed on a Digidesign VENUE SC48, and took advantage of the board’s onboard plug-ins, including the Fairchild 660s on vocals, acoustic guitars and bass. She also ran McDSP G console comp/EQs on the drum channels, as well as a bus compressor on the outputs of all the ears. She used Digidesign’s Revibe and Reverb Ones. All of her processing was done inside the console aside from the Dolby Lake controller for the monitor EQs. Kilburn also carried an IW1800 RF spectrum analyzer to ensure clean RF. Wedges were Adamson M-15s powered by Lab.gruppen PLM 10000s. Kilburn had four monitors on four mixes for Tegan Quin, three mixes for guitars and one mix for keyboards, as well as a vocal wedge in front of her and a stereo pair on the outside. The rest of the band were on in-ears: Sennheiser G2 transmitters with a Shure PA821 antenna combiner and a helical antenna; Tegan, Sara, Gowans and Huberts wore Westone ES2s; Andrews took Sensaphonics.
