Meals is a supply of nourishment and energy. With no food we would not be in a position to carry out our day-to-day activities. Our muscles would wither, our nervous system would fail. So, we all want food.

Even so, food also has yet another function in our lives - a role of comfort and entertainment. Culturally and instinctively we prepare and serve foods to comfort those who have knowledgeable loss, to celebrate joy or to show friendship and really like.

So what precisely is emotional consuming?

Seeing food as far more than just a supply of energy and enjoying it just for the satisfaction it provides is not incorrect. In fact science shows that meals can market excellent feelings by chemical reactions brought on in our brains.

What IS a problem is when an individual can not encounter pain, anxiety, joy or even boredom with no turning to food as means of dealing with these feelings, or they are obsessed with food, weight and dieting.

Emotional eaters turn to meals as a supply of distraction from dealing with feelings. Even so, eating these foods leads to feelings of guilt which can only be soothed with a lot more consuming, restrictive dieting, excessive workout or purging.

Emotional eaters tend to worth themselves based on their weight and how closely they've stuck to their 'ideal' diet. Because of this distorted partnership with food, foods are labeled "Great" and "Bad". Emotional consuming can also lead to critical eating problems and depression.
