The central spire, containing the command and other central facilities. Deck 1, at the top, is merely a mile across; deck 7, at the bottom, is five across. According to some who have measured the length, there should be 8 decks, but both decks 1 and 7 offer direct views of the outside so they are verifiably the top and bottom. Speculation varies from imprecise measurements to extra inter-deck equipment to an unacknowledged deck, inaccessible via lift, between decks 1 and 2.
