Imperial City

The Imperial City is the Seat of the Empire of the Hayden Dynesty. The Most populous City on the Northern Side of the continent, it represents the glory and grandure of the empire. Here are to be found the imperial palaces, the Sun-Temple of Pelor, and the vast market place of Emthailia, along with other major landmarks. At last estimate the imperial cities population was estimated at 952,120 individuals, composed of roughly 180,680 households. The imperial city its self is divided up into seven main districts, each one divided by the city walls, which are shutdown during the curfew hours and four special economic zones. The largest of these by population is the "Middlegrounds" which is inhabited those belonging to the lowest class in the three tier-imperial class system, containing 72,350 households and an estimated population of approximately 43,000. Members of the high classes reside in the Highcourt and in the Law district. With members of the government residing in the Governing district. The Magehorn district holds the imperial Arcane College, and entrance generally restricted to Wizard Scholars, university students, and members of the Ruling class. all members of the ruling class are housed within the imperial palace. There are two Middle-class districts, the Riverfront, which doubles as an industrial district for craftsmen and mechanics, and the terraced communities of the slope leading up to the high district, which are occupied mainly by servants of the nobility, and other who have regular business with the high classes.
Geography
The imperial city was built upon around cliffs on the west side of the Tirana River Valley. The Imperial palace is built on a mild overhang overlooking the rest of the city. Surrounding the imperial palace is the Government district, as well as the Law district. Further west of these two districts and along the cliff face is the high-district, holding most the manor houses of the nobility. Along the terraced western cliff face can be found the Terrace district, which extends downward to the Riverfront district. South and north of the Riverfront district, as well as east of the river is the Middlegrounds district, which is home to those who have not been granted imperial privilege.
Economy
In addition to being the administrative center of the Empire, the Imperial city is an important financial, military, and trade center. The Tirana river is an important source of travel, both by manually propelled barges, and larger magically propelled "fire" ships. In addition, the road infrastructure within the empire favors the imperial city as a central hub, which assures that many trade and agricultural goods produced in the empire are brought in to be sold in the marketplace of Emthailia, which is one of the special economic districts accessible to all classes. The University district, the Manufactory, and the smaller marketplace of Pelor are also given the designation of "special economic zone".
Five miles from the city can be found Fort Antpeter, one of the major imperial military bases. It is the center of imperial central command, and also serves as the war college for new Imperial officers. It is home to the 3rd Central Army, which is known as the "Emperor's Own". Most the the 3rd army is currently on deployment on the Island of Malawe, but roughly 1/3rd of its personnel remain at Antpeter in coordination and support roles.
