[edit] Plane of Existence

There is a plane of existence outside our world - called Astra - that is the domain of the gods. It is occupied by beings that exist outside of our concept of time, and our space, thus these beings were not "born" as we understand it, and do not "die". They are eternal, and extremely advanced. We do not know the nature of these beings, only that they have some form of conscious mind.

It is impossible to describe "where" this reality/existence is to mortal men - our understanding of this plane of existence is limited. The only thing we can honestly know about it, is that it is the genesis of our universe, and its driving forces are what created our universe. It envelops our known universe in much the same way a pool of water would surround a bowling ball suspended in it.

Only three beings are known to inhabit Astra - Adon, Attero and Aeta. Collectively these three beings are called "Deia".

[edit] Adon

Adon (Greek for Master) is the Deia responsible for creating the world. It was his desire that existence was crafted with order, structure and perfection. He is responsible for the creation of the entire universe, as well as the symmetry and patterns seen in it. He wished to create a world that would harbor beings that would eventually reach a level of perfection and development that would make them akin to the Deia. Thus, the power that flows through our world that can be used to create, heal, build, and preserve comes directly from Adon. Some have called Adon the god of Order.

[edit] Attero

Attero (Latin for to weaken, ruin, rub against, rub away, erode, destroy, waste, impair, attritus, wear away, wear down) is the Deia responsible for the whithering and destruction of the world. It was his desire that the existence being created by the Deia had meaning - and to have meaning, to truly be appreciated it could not be eternal. Attero viewed the Deia's greatest weakness being their perpetual nature, unable to truly find meaning due to their immortality. He wished to create a world that would see all living things whither and die, all structures and geography decay and age. He too wished for the Deia's creation to evolve one day to a level of understanding and power that would let them walk in Astra, but he believed that could only come through the struggle pain, loss, destruction and the realization that existence is special as a result. Because of this, the power originating from Attero is used to destroy, wound, kill, and cease. Attero has been called the god of Chaos.

[edit] Aeta

Aeta (Aetas is Latin for an age, stage, period of life, time, era) is the Deia responsible for the balance, harmony and direction of our world. It is Aeta who created the concept of time, as a way to manage and bring harmony to the differing powers of Adon and Attero. Because of him, time allows for growth, and decay. Time passes, allowing the creation of things, the growing and development of things, but also the whithering and failure we see around us, eventually leading to death or destruction. Time is the tool used to bring harmony to our creation - without it, things would instantaneously be created and destroyed and all of creation would have no real purpose. Aeta saw wisdom in both Adon and Atteros approaches and wished to bring balance to them. The power that comes from Aeta is therefore used to manipulate time (especially in terms of visions of the future/past, etc), to alter reality (levitate objects for example) and bring balance to things. His is the power of reality, thus anything dealing with the dreamworld, or any alternate realities is his. Aeta is often called the god of Harmony.
