THIS IS THE MOST UP TO DATE DESCRIPTION
The current is actually a description of TWO currents - in their entirety making up the entire concept of the current itself.
Imagine two rivers, separated only by a very small distance, flowing in opposing directions. Now imagine an object in between those rivers, wide enough that it touches both. This object is a tall cylinder that has broad facemarks (not a wheel, that's a WoT ripoff) on it, and the flow of the currents in opposite direction drives this cylinder to rotate. That rotation is the rotation of time, driving our lives forward.
This happens on a cosmic plane beyond our ability to see or know. The universe itself is that "pole" in the middle of the current, being turned, changed and moved by the two opposing currents. Were either current to go away, there would not be enough energy to maintain time and space, and the universe as we know it would destroy itself. All that would be left is the cosmic vaccum shell - the nothingness that existed before the universe.
As such, the current itself flows through all parts of the universe (because of the convergence of the rivers around a cosmic ) - and in essence, the universe IS the current itself made manifest. Thus, if a sentient being is able to understand this, and "feel" the current flowing through them, it is possible for them to manipulate the current in some limited ways, using it to do things.
This ability in humans can be likened to our concepts of Magic, or the Power, or the Force - or any number of supernatural phenomena that give human beings powers beyond the physical world.
Usage of the Current
The important note about the current is that for basically everyone who uses it - it isn't some all powerful, "can do anything you want, anytime" type of power. We have to make it difficult, limited, and with certain inabilities. In other words, perhaps the use of the current to become hidden is more like a chameleon, and less like "the invisible man". Regardless, try to make it so I do not have "walking gods" walking around the world.

Nature
Now, since there are two distinct energies that permiate everything in the universe, under normal circumstances beings would be able to direct either the creators energies or the destroyers. Extremely skilled indivuals would likely be able to harness both at the same time to perform amazing feats.
Each power can be used to accomplish similar things - in other words, a user of either should be able to reshape the land, or levetate things, or throw energy at something, breath life into dying plants - what have you. However, the way each is accessed differs.
The Creators power is based on order, discipline, creation, harmony and peace. As such, one who wishes to harness his power must be clear of thought, sullen, reserved, creative, with a calm mind.
