First Trilogy Novel 1

Okay - here is my collection of thoughts about this story.
- Prologue - see Secret of Mana opening explanation... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnsJI4rmoVE
- How about the opening be Fisc wanting to see off the ship that is going to go "find the new world" or what have you. Have him go to a port to see the ship and the people on it, give some explanation about "strange stories from the west/east" or something. Have it be a huge ship that is going to the land of the shapeshifters, but little/nothing is known aboutt them, possibly don't even know about them at all. But this would be a great opening. Establishes mood. Yeah, go with that.
- Opens with character introduction for Fisc... it is late, long day, whatever. He is going to be going to bed, his father is acting strangely. As he goes to sleep for the night the chapter closes.
- Either take what is below, or try this one out. Hyrule was engulfed in chaos after an army led by Ganon, the Prince of Darkness, invaded the kingdom and secured the Triforce of Power, a magical artifact bestowing great strength.[3] Hyrule's Princess Zelda split the artifact's counterpart, the Triforce of Wisdom, into eight fragments, hiding them in secret dungeons throughout the land to prevent them from falling into Ganon's hands. She commanded her most trustworthy nursemaid, Impa, to escape and find a man courageous enough to destroy Ganon. Upon hearing this, Ganon grew angry, imprisoned the princess, and sent a party in search of Impa.
- The first words of the next chapter are, "...Fisc..." Basically mirror the opening of a Link to the Past here. A telepathic message is being sent to Fisc... desperate call for help. No name, but he knows it is a girl... it is raining heavily outside. He gets out of bed and comes to realize that his father is not there any longer. He feels these things must be related, grabs a cheap sword from the home (maybe behind a herald or shield or something)... next to useless
- Goes to the castle - meets someone who is mysterious, who basically kicks the shit out of Fisc, but he "somehow" (how is unimportant) manages to get the girl and escape... likely due to very strange things happening (in reality, current users assaulting the castle to free its residents and drive out the mysterious character).
- While in the castle he finds an object. This object is why the dark figure was there taking control of the castle. He imprisoned the girl because she knew where it was in the castle, she had taken it from her father to play with it or something. Reader doesn't know ANY of this at all... but Fisc talks to the girl about her imprisonment, and she mentions him torturing her for information on the object, but Fisc doesn't tell her he has it... or maybe he does, and she feels good about it being safe. Who knows, play with this concept. Okay - REWORK this... in the initial assault, the King/Duke/Lord whatever, was killed, leaving just the girl with knowledge of where the object was. It was placed somewhere secret to protect it from others.. Fisc found it while sneaking into the castle. It wasn't as sword or anything, but it was somewhere, and its removal set off a change in the world around him.
- Returns to his village the next morning. On the way back, odd things begin happening... he travels through a wooded forest area to get back to the village, and an eerie sticky fog is in, strange creatures are about in the forest, other things like that.
- When he comes back, he finds many buildings burned/broken, and troops occupying the village. Does not have any interaction with anyone, but learns (perhaps by overhearing things) that the attack is retaliation for a village resident (Fisc) breaking a girl out from the castle dungeon. He decides that he can not stay here, because they would be captured, and the villagers would hate him anyway. He must leave, the girl offers to go with him.
- Also learned that his father was part of a secret society (not known about current use, but they are) that went to the castle to assault it and push back the invaders. Overheard that he is now dead. (In reality, not dead, given a little darth vader action perhaps).
- Along the way somewhere, we enter a "Bourne Identity" plotline - Fisc encounters a body, basically dead (perhaps in the water) and only one clue on his person (peice of paper or something" to who he is.
- Learn about invasions of a major kingdom and a despotic ruler... Hitler-like expansion due to a "WWI" type thing that happened 30 years before.
- Major stand against the expansionist empire is made at the mountain kingdom (Toren-like country). This is where a 300 like storyline happens - a "few vs. many" type thing.
Novel Background / Pre-story
The realm of Azland and a host of others had engaged in a massive war with the other nations of humanity roughly 30 years before the setting of the novel. On June 28, 1914, Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian Serb student, killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, in Sarajevo. Princip was a member of Young Bosnia, a group whose aims included the unification of the South Slavs and independence from Austria-Hungary. The assassination in Sarajevo set into motion a series of fast-moving events that eventually escalated into a full-scale war. Austria-Hungary demanded action by Serbia to punish those responsible, and when Austria-Hungary deemed Serbia had not complied, declared war. Major European powers were at war within a matter of weeks because of overlapping agreements for collective defense and the complex nature of international alliances.

Solid Ideas for this book
- The Current will be used in this novel, but it will be relatively un-noticed, with things just happening. Never mentioned by name. Perhaps users of the current will be present, even active, but its not in the open yet.
- There will be prophecies/visions - but they will happen in dreams, never be stated to be prophecies, but only foreshadow things to come. I do not want to turn this into some lame ass "you're the one the prophecy spoke up" crap. This will also serve to introduce the dream world, but again, its nature or being anything more than a dream - unknown in this book.
- A world war breaks out - WWII style (re-emergence of an empire that used to be great, was beaten back 25 years before in a global conflict, and was RUINED, then through racial purity arguments, nationalism, and all the other Hitler-ish stuff)
- The dictator of note is revealed to be a shape shifter late in the book, introducing that species and providing the reasoning behind his madness.
- The dictators stated goal is to reunite the world, pronounce the superiority of his race, and (here's the most important part) re-establish the "High King of Men" which has not been seen since the races of men were last one... in other words millennia ago.
EXPLORATION OF IDEAS
Open it with a great injured warrior... like in GOBOTS, or like Optimus Prime being wounded. Reader has never seen how incredible the character is in battle/war/etc... but gets the character set up as great by how they talk about him. Maybe he was betrayed or something, but the point is the warrior is inflated and hyped by those around him, while he does nothing. That way, when he heals he's already an established character.
Invasion by the warrior race to human lands, under the control of the shape shifters. Do not talk about the control being by the shape shifters yet.
