Author explanation - The name "Marin" is the French version of the word "Mariner". Obviously the Marin are a humanoid amphibious race, thus referring to them as Mariners makes a fair deal of sense, and given my pride in my French heritage, coupled with my love of the water and all things aquatic, the choice of the French translation was important.
