Okay - you have to do this one.  Mirror world was not created by the gods, but rather by the dark avatar.  He wanted to create a new world ruled only by chaos and destruction.  He used almost exclusively the power of destruction and chaos to create it (though he HAD to use some of creation current to even make it in the first place.  Regardless, its a small universe, basically only a mirror for our planet.  The "dark creatures" that every fantasy novel has to face, come from there - in a way very similar to the Orcs from Warcraft (ie some kind of portal, and an onslaught of monsters comes).  But, at the same time, it mirrors much of the "dark world" from Zelda... possibly nix the "creation" thing and have its creation be from the gods like zelda - but this would be a harder concept to explore.

*Legend of Zelda-esque "dark world".  More or less transported to a land that is identical in geography, structures, etc, but whose landscape is of a different color palate, its sky being black/dark in some way, and a feeling of "evil"

  • Legend of Zelda-esque "dark world". More or less transported to a land that is identical in geography, structures, etc, but whose landscape is of a different color palate, its sky being black/dark in some way, and a feeling of "evil"

This would be a great concept to explore in one of the middle novels, after the characters have grown into their roles.

In fact, make this an entire novel. Have the entrance to this "dark world" be a doorway of some kind - make it foreboding and dark, creepy as hell. WoT doorway that Moiraine fell into, doorway in the department of Mysteries that Sirius Black fell into.

Make its appearance be able to be seen by anyone, but its ACCESS only able to happen given a number of circumstances - such as in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - or again, WoT.
