Appearence

Dylan’s embodiment of Truth affected his appearance. Formally he was a plain fellow; rather non-descript. Now however, his appearance matches his soul. He’s an ugly, lumpen thing: his face looks like he’s been in several fights recently, his back has a hunch, and his hands are gnarled and twisted. But his change did have a benefit. He now stands at 6’3’’; a good foot taller then he used to.

History

Growing up, Dylan was the boy everyone hated. He was the teacher’s pet, the momma’s boy, the stool pigeon. Whenever someone did something wrong he’d go running off to tell the nearest adult. Though he was beaten and mocked for this, he always felt better then the rest of the children for never lying.

Life was pretty much like this for the next several years, though over time he did become more circumspect. Instead of letting everyone now it was him squealing, he’d leave anonymous notes for the teachers or authorties to act on. After graduating from high school he knew exactly what he wanted to work towards being; a police investigator.

While his early years in the force went well he couldn’t stay with it. While there were no problems with the criminals; it was his fellow officers. There were a couple of incidents when fellow officers commited offences they should have been reprimanded or fired for. But when Dylan tried to have anything done he found himself hamstrung by the other officers covering for their buddies. Eventually he grew so frustrated he quite the force.

Afterwards Dylan became a private investigator. While it payed the bills he was never completely satisfied. While there was a small amount of satisfaction of ferreting out a cheating husband or someone lying to their work for disability pay, it was all small potatoes.

Purely by accident one day as he walked to work, Dylan noticed a very suspicious fellow ducking into an alley. Smelling something afoot he followed the man. The man walked a complicated route; twisting and turning through alleys, streets, buildings, and at one point the sewers. With each and every step Dylan’s conviction that he was on to something grew. Suddenly however, he came up to a dead end, with the man no where in sight. Increaduleous, Dylan searched high and low but couldn’t see anyway that the man could have slipt away.

He turned to go away, but gave the dead end one last look. He noticed something as he stared at it that he hadn’t noticed before. A small corner seemed to shimmer, if ever so little, as if it where a mirage. Not really expecting anything he went over to it and touched it. Or tried, as his hand suddenly plunged through the illusion; followed by his body as he was thrown off balance and fell in. He didn’t have much time to look around when he felt himself in the grip of some force and confronted by the man he‘d followed.

“You’re an intriguing man,” the man said. “Not many mortal men have the strength of mind to see through such illusions.” Dylan was speechless, he couldn’t think of anything to say. Looking him up and down, the man nodded. “How would you like to work for me Dylan Palmer? I can give you powers you couldn’t dream of. Powers to help you learn all kinds of truths.” It took Dylan a moment to take in the offer. Slowly a grin spread across his face. “Sounds interesting. I’m game.”

Anchors

The Con man: Howard Keith

During Dylan’s time as a police officer, this was one of the crooks he brought in. A con man Howard cloaked himself in lies and revealed in deceit; the almost polar opposite of Dylan. Howard was able to elude arrest for several years, driving Dylan mad. Even after he was arrested, Dylan always loathed him and made sure to check on him periodically after he was released for parole.
