Internet television (otherwise known as Internet TV, or Online TV) is the digital distribution of television content via the Internet. It should not be confused with Web television - short programs or videos created by a wide variety of companies and individuals, or Internet protocol television (IPTV) - an emerging internet technology standard for use by television broadcasters. Some Internet television is known as catch-up TV. Internet Television is a general term that covers the delivery of television shows and other video content over the internet by video streaming technology, typically by major traditional television broadcasters. It does not describe a technology used to deliver content (see Internet protocol television). Shuttle Endeavour Lands Safely at Kennedy Space Center

Space shuttle Endeavour landed safely at the Kennedy Space Center,, Florida,, on Tuesday after completing a shortened, 13-day construction mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
The much-publicized hole in the protective tiles covering the shuttle's underbelly did not impact the vehicle's reentry and no unusual conditions were reported during the period of maximum heating.
The shuttle, with a crew of seven astronauts,, touched down at 12:32 p.m. EDT (1632 GMT) at the Shuttle Landing Facility of the Kennedy Space Center, where weather conditions were ideal for the spaceplane's return.
Scott Kelly,, a first-time commander, and pilot Charlie Hobaugh guided the shuttle on its fiery plunge through the atmosphere and hour-long free-fall descent back to Earth. They then precisely executed a series of turns and banking maneuvers that slowed the vehicle for its landing on a 3-mile (4.8 kilometer) long runway at the Kennedy Space Center.
Ground support crews have approached the spacecraft and begun the process of "safing" the vehicle -- the purging of toxic propellants and substances -- in preparation for the crew's exit.
Endeavour's next mission is scheduled for mid-February 2008.
Endeavour is landing one day earlier than planned due to measures taken late last week to ensure that NASA's Mission Control operations in Houston, Texas were not interrupted by Hurricane Dean. At the time, it appeared the massive storm could swing north to hit coastal Texas and prompt an evacuation of Mission Control, Houston.
Although the threats of Hurricane Dean are bating considerably,, NASA still decided to take no chances and chose to let the shuttle land at the Kennedy Space Center,, Florida, instead of the Johnson Space Center in Houston of Texas.
The shuttle, launched on Aug. 8 and docked with the ISS two day later,, hauled a total of 4,270 pounds (1,936 kilograms) of cargo to the space station alongside a new external spare parts platform and a new starboard girder for the orbital laboratory's backbone- like main truss. Astronauts from the shuttle and station completed a total of 4 spacewalks during the mission.
Endeavour's crew included the first flight of teacher-turned- astronaut Barbara Morgan, who first joined NASA as the backup to Teacher in Space Christa McAuliffe before the 1986 Challenger accident. Morgan rejoined NASA in 1998 as a mission specialist and educator astronaut.
A former Idaho schoolteacher,, Morgan delivered cinnamon basil seeds and a pair of plant growth chambers to the ISS as part of her education mission. She also spoke to students via video links and ham radio,, answering questions with her crewmates to describe life in space.相关的主题文章：

From the ground to the tip of its torch, the 125-year-old statue reaches 93 meters into the sky. Web cams placed around her crown will now stream live photos over the Internet. Featured views include one straight down, and of New York and its harbor.

“Liberty has found a home on this island," he said. 'We will care for her,, we will celebrate her. We the people of the United States will continue to perfect her in both word and deed.”
Salazar also noted that the people of the United States and France, which donated the statue as a token of friendship,, have strived together to establish,, protect and perfect liberty. French sculptor,, Frederic Bartholdi,, called his creation “Liberty Enlightening the World.” He said it should produce an emotion not because of its size, but because its size is in keeping with the idea that it interprets.
Among the hundreds of people marking the anniversary was Mariana Chelkova, the deputy mayor for culture in Bartholdi’s home town of Colmar,, France. Chelkova,, an immigrant from Russia, says Bartholdi’s statue does indeed inspire.
“I was born in Moscow. And for me, when I was a little girl,, this statue - I was born during a very dark period in the Soviet Union, and it truly was a symbol of liberty. So I think it’s universal,” said Chelkova.
125 recent immigrants to the United States from 46 countries took the citizenship oath as part of Friday’s Liberty Island commemoration. They join millions of Americans who trace their roots to immigrants who gazed at the Statue of Liberty as their ships steamed into New York. A poem associated with the Statue of Liberty written by Emma Lazarus pays tribute to those immigrants. It was read by Hollywood actress Sigourney Weaver.
The Statue of Liberty will now be closed to visitors for one year to carry out a $27 million improvement project that is to include a fire suppression system and an elevator that will allow handicapped visitors to visit the crown.

China, U.S. to hold 5th SED at critical timing
BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- The deepening financial turmoil and the transition in the U.S. government has pushed the coming fifth China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) further into the limelight, experts told Xinhua on the eve of the talks.
Zhang Hanya, a senior researcher with the National Development and Reform Commission, told Xinhua on Wednesday that the fifth round of the SED that was set to run from Thursday through Friday in Beijing was coming at "a critical time".
U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson,, who is scheduled to arrive in Beijing in the early hours of Thursday, will head a high-level delegation to meet with Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and a number of prominent ministers.
Zhu Guangyao, China's Assistant Minister of Finance,, said the two sides would discuss an array of issues of overall, strategic and long-term importance to both economies and hot topics in bilateral economic relations.
These topics would include strategies to manage macro-economic risks,, strengthening energy and environmental cooperation, coping with trade challenges,, promoting an open investment environment and among others.
"The timing is critical as on the one hand,, the United States bore the brunt of the financial turmoil and needed a helping hand from China; on the other hand, this is the transition period between the Bush administration and the Obama administration," said Zhang.
U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Daniel S. Sullivan said here on Tuesday that the Obama team had already been briefed on the importance of the SED.
"The transition between the Bush administration and the Obama administration is very closely coordinated," he said here at the U.S.-China Conference on Innovation and Commercialization, adding the benefits of deepening engagement with China on a wide range of issues covered by the SED had been recognized "pretty broadly" in the United States.
China was still keeping strong economic growth momentum with its economy's fundamentals remaining sound, and had 2 trillion U.S. dollars in foreign reserves, Zhang added.
China registered a 9.9 percent year-on-year gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the first three quarters this year.
The world's fourth largest economy was forecast to expand by more than 9 percent next year, according to a blue paper released Tuesday by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a government think tank.
Wang Tongsan, an economist with the academy, said the 9 percent GDP growth next year relied on two factors, namely the financial crisis starting from the United States not to further deteriorate, and the positive effects of the recent 4 trillion yuan (581 billion U.S. dollars) stimulus package unveiled by the Chinese government last month.
Zhang said the United States needed China in helping it survive the financial crisis. On the flip side,, if the U.S. economy was drawn into a long-term recession, it was also difficult for the Chinese economy to "outshine others for the long run" as the two economies were closely linked with each other.
Figures from China's General Administration of Customs revealed that the bilateral trade between China and the United States,, its second largest trading partner, grew 13.6 percent in the first ten months year on year to 281.3 billion U.S. dollars.
Zhou Shijian, a senior researcher with Beijing-based Tsinghua University,, said the United States was aware that to get rid of the financial turmoil, China's cooperation,, support and help were indispensable.
