Dr. Fuhrman's program for Nutritional Excellence
Dr. Joel Fuhrman is a family physician specializing in health and disease prevention through nutritional excellence. The core concept behind his recommendations is to maximize the nutrients per calorie consumed. This means a diet of the most nutrient-dense foods: predominantly vegetables, fruits, beans, nuts, and seeds. Many Americans may consider this an extremist position. But those who follow his dietary advice point out that the modern American diet is a radical departure from healthful eating.

Let's discuss ideas for the site on Talk:Main_Page.
Practical Matters
One of the hurdles for many beginning ETLers is learning routines to enable this way of eating. Fitting food preparation into tight schedules, brown-bagging lunch to work or trips, dining out, sharing meals with non-ETLers, and more are all areas that usually require new methods.
Please edit this section and tell us about your routines. Take all the space you need, we will organize it as material is added!
Sketchpad
Here is a beginning of some things we could put in the wiki. These will need to be broken off into their own categories but for now I'm just listing them here until we have some sort of organization scheme.
Healthy Times Newsletter
- Newsletter Archive (drfuhrman.com members)
- Healthy Times Index maintained by Susan
Recipes
- Dr. Fuhrman Recipe Search (drfuhrman.com members)
- Add more recipe sources.
Vita Mix
- Add content!
Frequently Asked Questions
- Water
- How much water should I drink per day?
- Should I drink tap/filtered/spring/distilled water?
Vegetable Encyclopedia
- Maybe we could have a section on unfamiliar vegetables and how to recognize freshness, prepare and cook them.
Fun Links
Wiki Info
Note: The username and password for the administrative account is admin, eattolive. Perhaps someone should be designated as the admin so that we do not need to publish this sensitive information on the front page.
Optional things to do
- Add the url for your wiki to the Categorized wiki list. Simply edit that page and put your wiki under the appropriate category.
- To increase the amount of space you have for uploads, add links to http://editthis.info from external sites, and go to the Link Quota Page to increase your uploads quota.
- Edit MediaWiki:Sidebar to change the navigation menu
- Add this wiki to some external wiki indexes:
- If you are feeling adventurous and know a little about web design you can edit the javascript and css to the Header to change the look of your wiki.
- You must log as admin to do this
- Whatever you enter in this page will be added to the html in the header after the standard style sheet, so you can override styles.
- Read the User's Guide for other usage and configuration help.
- Add your wiki to the map of wikis
