Growing Up

Ryan Campbell was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1980, October the 18th. He was a big wrestling fan as a child, his favourite wrestlers being Randy Savage and Ric Flair. His father, an ex-professional boxer pushed for him to take up boxing as he approached his tenth birthday. Campbell took to it well and by sixteen, he had advanced onto kick boxing and has basic knowledge of submissions with his eyes set on a career in MMA. Ryan focussed on MMA despite his mother's worries over his poor school work and began training with Tito Ortiz and his fight team in Huntington Beach. After honing his abilities with some of the best in the world, Campbell signed up for the FURY FC which had just been set up by a millionaire businessman.

FURY FC

Ryan Campbell made his MMA debut in the FURY FC promotion, exploding onto the MMA scene quick kicks, powerful punches and a decent knowledge of submission holds. Campbell was young and inexperienced but he made major impact upon his debut, defeating Zachary Hunter and in his next fight, Johnny Silverstein. Campbell earned the nickname "Bad Boy" for his charisma and attitude in interviews. Campbell conducted himself like a pro wrestler, with pyro and behaviour fans were used to from the WWE. Campbell's charisma won him many fans and he became a key marketing feature for FURY FC.

Ryan Campbell racked up the victories in FURY bet fell to Franco Lotta for the vacant FURY Middleweight Title at the memorable "DEFCON" PPV due to split decision from the judges. The fans were furious. It was Campbell's first loss in FURY but he bounced back with a win over the lightning quick Payton Green which followed in Ryan winning the FURY Middleweight Title for the first time. He would lose this belt to Johnny Silverstein four months later but eventually at "A Night To Remember", Ryan won the title for the second and final time from submission expert Michael Cohen. Campbell embarked on a winning streak of five fights before dropping the title back to Johnny Silverstein in a fight where Ryan looked off the pace.

Campbell announced in a press conference after the PPV that he would be making the transition to pro wrestling. It had been a life-long ambition for Campbell and with the chance to earn large money in the up-rising DXX promotion, he couldn't turn the offer down.

DXX

It didn't take long for Ryan Campbell to get ready to fight in DXX due to his insistance on using his MMA offence rather than learning a wrestlers moveset. He knew the rules already and after learning how to learn the ropes he cut a promo on Massacre, making his on-air debut in DXX. The reaction to "Bad Boy" was good but it didn't take long before he was swapping insults with Randy Spade and Mike Kelly. Massacre GM Chris Jericho placed Ryan against Nick Awesome, who was unbeaten at the time. Campbell had top quality stamina but his lack of wrestling ability was exposed in his debut match against Nick Awesome on Massacre which he lost via submission when Awesome locked in the Sharpshooter.

After this dissappointing loss, Ryan was sent to the newly formed DXX Rated brand to help him hone his skills before making the trip back to the big leagues. Campbell was humble, he understood that he needed to improve his game and this was the best place to do it. "Bad Boy" faced and defeated Renato in his first Rated match by submission when he broke Renato's arm, putting him on the shelf indefinately. Next week, Ryan was put up against the odd couple of Beth Phoenix and Jamie Noble in a mixed tag match with his partner being Daisy Vacairu. Ryan and Daisy overcame Beth and Jamie with Daisy getting the win via roll-up after a "Bad Boy" distraction.

Around the same time period, Ryan Campbell engaged in a series of confrontations with The Jones Twins. He disliked the lack of respect they showed to the wrestlers of DXX Rated and challenged both Jones Twins to a handicap match. Ami Jones called for a singles match instead and it was made official by the Rated GMs.
