Team Galactic

From Dexnet

The crime syndicate in operation throughout Sinnoh is the rather sinister Team Galactic. Their main headquarters are located in Veilstone City, but they've done some expansion recently, establishing smaller bases throughout the country, and another larger one in Eterna City.

The main goal of the gang is, of course, to rule the world. There is a sharp divide within the team about how this precisely is to be accomplished - the grunts are mostly kept in the dark about the plans held by the commanders and boss.

The mod in charge of Team Galactic is Dragonfire.

Overview

All members are tasked with the finding (whether legitimate or not) of rare and powerful Pokémon, which are used for both furthering the team's goals, and for research purposes. All caught specimens are to be turned over to commanders; some can be returned to the capturer, but most are shipped off to the labs and storehouses. Still, grunts are free at any time to request a Pokémon from the warehouses for their teams, although most favour the use of Glameow, Stunky, Croagunk, and the Zubat and Wurmple families. Commanders tend to use more powerful versions of the above, along with whatever they feel is useful.

Current activities of the team are mostly concentrated in the search for legendary Pokémon, but they're also known to run underground Pokémon dealing rings as well as raking in large amounts of cash from the Game Corner in Veilstone.

Team Galactic does not do much to hide themselves from the public eye. Cyrus and the commanders usually stay out of the attention of the media, but the organization as a whole is not shy to attention - in fact, they quite brazenly ask for donations of Pokémon in advertisements on television!

No one is quite sure what to think of them. There are rumours that they're tied to a particular political party, or that they're an offshoot of the First Church of Arceus, and that they do good work with the donations that they accept. And, certainly, they do - if only for the good publicity. Some are more suspicious, but others are nonchalant towards the members. The police, of course, won't do anything to them - not unless they can link them directly to a crime.

They are, thus, very very careful to keep their illicit activities - and universe destruction plots - under the radar of the police and the public.

Leader

Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic, although young, is almost more of a threat to the world than any other head honcho-esque personality in this corner of the world - quite simply, he's a very charismatic sociopath. He has been able to gather many people to his side with the promise of delivering a new world order - he believes that the planet, in its current condition, is a place full of weak and incomplete people, who only serve to create strife and conflict.

What most do not know is that Cyrus's idea of a new world is precisely that - a new world, fashioned by the destruction of the current one. He wishes to shape the universe to his own purposes, and set himself as the ruling god of it. It is to this end that he searches for the legendary guardians of time and space, Dialga and Palkia - he believes that with their unbridled power, he will be able to accomplish his goals.

He is also quite emotionless, although seems to pretend at spurts of passion from time to time; it is whispered by some of the commanders that this is due to being touched by the Pokémon of emotion, Mesprit, as a young child.

Member Ranks

Grunt

The Galactic grunts make up the largest portion of the organization. They're the muscle and the spare bodies - the gears that keep the machine running. They mostly act as footsoldiers, guards, and thieves, but also end up roped in to whatever else the higher-ups might require of them. All grunts are required to wear the snazzy spacesuit-like uniform of the team, and are provided with a small selection of Pokémon from the Galactic stores. Most end up joining because of the promises of rare Pokémon being provided to them if they complete their assigned tasks, although the particular charisma of the boss doesn't hurt matters much. Most work in pairs, although some trusted grunts are free to do their own thing.

Scientists

The scientists mostly work out of the Veilstone headquarters, and have been hard at work developing technology to aid the team in its pursuits. Hacking is one of their favourite activities - whether changing registration information or surreptitiously slipping in propaganda to major news websites, the Galactic scientists are able to do most of anything. The stablized form of Porygon-Z is to be blamed on them, after they got their hands on the Team Rocket Porygon prototypes. Another group works on developing tools - such as the 'Red Chain' project, a completely new method of holding a Pokémon to the will of humans. There is also a small team dedicated to researching legendary Pokémon for any signs of truth in the tales, along with looking into other myths and history for hints of power to be had. They're on the same hierarchy level as the grunts.

Covert Agents

Covert agents are the spies and sneaks of the team. They're placed wherever the commanders believe them to be useful - museums, PokéCenters, the police force, and tech companies are all good targets - and are sworn to keeping their true identities secret at all costs.

Commanders

Commanders are the next level on the pyramid, reporting directly to Cyrus and keeping the activities of the lower-downs in check. All commanders have a codename based on a planet or other extraterrestrial body, and wear a customized version of the silvery uniforms. Most of them are pretty well-informed as to the workings of the team, and its true purpose - they have to be, to keep everything in line and working smoothly. Each is in charge of a team of usually ten to twenty grunts, and co-ordinates their activities in keeping with the plans and happenings from week to week. They are rarely called out to work in the field - only in high-priority operations can commanders usually be found working with their team members.
