Random Facts
- Bill is a furry with a Clefairy fetish. A...clefurry, if you will.
- Pokémon become data when pulled into PokéBalls. This brings up all kinds of interesting questions:
- Are Pokémon hackable? Yes! But it's extremely difficult to make even minor changes, even if you know exactly what you're doing. You're much more likely to completely fuck it up and end up with a faulty Pokémon or completely unravel their data.
- Can Pokémon be generated from scratch using raw code? Yes! See Porygon! However, they seem...somehow incomplete, and are prone to glitching. Like something's missing...
- Snorlax really likes to fall alseep in the middle of roads, doesn't he? This usually takes a team of cops and nurses to fix, since Snorlax is notoriously difficult to capture while sleeping.
- Certain Pokémon evolutions and pre-evolutions literally did not exist until they were discovered for the first time. Do Pokémon have a collective genetic consciousness? When one Pokémon of a certain type figures out how to evolve, suddenly all others will know as well. Ditto on pre-evos, but the mechanics of that one even coming about in the first place are a bit more mysterious.
- Pokémon data can become orphaned in Bill's system. Remember that Oddish you caught 12 years ago? Is it missing when you go to pull it out of your box? It might have gotten lost in the system and become orphaned data!
- Orphaned data can sometimes coalesce into Porygon! Ever since the Pokémon was first created, it's entered that collective genetic consciousness and data with nowhere else to go might end up manifesting into the only viable form for them.
- Porygon and its evolutions are the only Pokémon that have some "consciousness" and the ability to act while in data format. They're known to cause system bugs. They're notoriously difficult to capture because they have to be lured into a Pokéball through the computer terminal!
- How, exactly, do Pokémon breed? Nobody knows! They'll never do it while being observed! This extends even to remote observation; they seem able to tell when they're on camera, no matter how well hidden! Researchers assume things happen in the "natural" way...
- Some interesting pick-up lines in use around the Pokémon world include variants of:
- "So, I heard you like mudkips."
- "Let me show you my Pokémon."
Team Rocket related
- Rocket Game Corners are a legitimate source of income for them! They're scattered throughout the Kanto and Johto regions. It's sort of unspoken common knowledge (the elephant in the corner) that they're run by Rockets, but they provide local jobs and generate city income so nobody does anything about it. It's not uncommon to see people in uniform guarding the place.
- Despite giving away (often stolen) Pokémon as prizes, police investigations have been unable to link the game corners to any illegal activity. TR has covered its tracks here!
- They've invented quite a bit of neat Pokémon technology:
- Invented Porygon by figuring out how to write Pokémon code.
- Invented PokéBall technology that switches a Pokémon to a completely new PokéBall, effectively trading it but completely erasing its trainer history in the process. No matter how many trainers it has had before, this will force it to register as a newly caught Pokémon.
- They invented those stat-raising vitamins that Celadon Department Store sells, too!
- They also do quite a lot of Pokémon research, including:
- The fossils project. Three separate projects intended to clone complete, capable Pokémon from fossils. The three projects were: Aerodactyl, Kabuto, and Omanyte. This lasted for about three years before being cancelled (very recently) due to taking too much time and money and showing very few results for it.
- Duncan Heimdall Jackson was the lead researcher on the Aerodactyl project!
- The Mewtwo project. The effort to clone Mew, but make it BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER. Began shortly after the fossils project and is still ongoing, having shown much more promise than the other three. There is some bitterness over this, since fossils project researchers see the Mewtwo project as the reason they were cancelled.
- Vivaine Ferox is the lead researcher on this one!
- They are also trying to figure out how to hack Pokémon effectively; this is proving very difficult and usually results are undesirable.

- Their main research facility is an underground facility in Saffron City, using the front of Salamander Co, which manufactures and sells those aforementioned vitamins. This place is HUGE, you guys. It's where all those projects mentioned above take place!
- The "dorms" in Saffron are actually an apartment complex that TR has bought out, about two or three blocks from the "Salamander Co" building. Singles are a studio apartment, you get one bedroom if you're a supervisor or admin, and two bedroom if you want a roommate.
- They have other facilities scattered throughout Kanto and Johto, but Saffron's just the big research one. The others do things like switch PokéBalls, serve as Black Market connections, and run smuggling rings.
- Dude they're like basically the mafia in Kanto and most Rockets want Giovanni to run for president. Heck, I'd vote for that suave smooth-talker. Wouldn't you?
Rumours!
- Rhys Elena: (Most of these are spread by Siegmund)
- He had to quit the League circuit because he met Arceus and learned the secrets of the universe. After that, it just wasn't fair anymore.
- The Black Fog ate his soul.
- He was bitten by a were-Pokémon and now roams the night as a half-man, half-Snorlax...
- He was killed in a horrible accident involving multiple caterpie and a wicker basket and now haunts the gates of Indigo's Victory Road, harrassing trainers who come to challenge his legacy.
- He caught Missingno. Nobody has seen him since.
- He turned into a porygon.
- He lost a bet. With Mew.
- Team Rocket tried to assassinate him.
- Daelin Gabriel: (spread by random folk; unfortunately, rumours tend to follow the Elite Four around a bunch)
- Him and Lorelei have a thing together! It's tooooootally true - look at the tabloids!
- He's gay. (This one's circulated more by women who consider his single status and find it way odd.)
- Team Rocket stole or killed his puppy when he was a kid and that's why he hates them.
- Team Rocket manipulated him into giving them a whole bunch of Pokémon, and that's why he hates them. (Closer than a lot of people think.)
- Team Rocket has a hit out on him! (...Which actually could be true?)
- When he vanished, he was taken away to an alternate dimension by legendary Pokémon and that's why he's such a goddamn good trainer, grrr.
- Baby Pokemon: (spread mostly by PETP members)
- Baby pokémon that require the mother to hold incense to be bred are actually sufferers of FIS, Fetal Incense Syndrome.
- This practice was started by irresponsible breeders as a way to make 'designer' pokémon that would sell for a high price.
- Azurill is a prime example. It's said that its tail (full of nutrients to help the baby pokémon grow) is considered a delicacy in some circles.
- Razielle Micah:
- The Razielle we all think we know is just a clone of the one who won the conference championships way back when.
- Razielle has a thing for snazzy red jumpsuits and that is why she is dating a Cooltrainer.
- Vivaine Ferox:
- Believed to have had some part in the recent death of the previous project leader, Dr. Artemis Redgrove. (Mostly believed by Duncan Jackson because he is a bitter bitter person.)
