Sae Kurosawa, Desai University's resident paradox girl and yurei.

Sae Kurosawa orginates from the Fatal Frame series, Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. And it should be noted that she is the crazy, cackling ghost that chases you through All God's Village, and the Camera Obscura has NO effect on her whatsoever! For future references, Sae can be placed post Fatal Frame 2, giving her the ability to wander around as she pleases, as well as manifest a physical body.

She is munned by Natalie.

What is Sae?

Her mun affectionally refers her to "zombie girl". In short, Sae is VERY much dead, and not afraid of the fact, either. She's a spirit that has seemingly gained a body, once thrown out of the Hellish Abyss (Hell, the afterlife, etc) for the second time, in the Good Ending of Fatal Frame, where neither of the Amakura twins had done the ritual. Otherwise, Sae wouldn't have free roam all over. Sae in the general story of Fatal Frame is a Yūrei (幽霊) -- a vengeful ghost. To get techinical, she's a Onryō (怨霊), a spirit that has came back from Purgatory to avenge the wrongs of her death, in the physical world. All that motivates Sae is her short attention span, being generally filled with malice, and the idea that everyone has to suffer for what has happened to her, the other twins, and her sister going missing. Everyone. What it all comes down to is Sae has one wish, aside from plotting another Repentance -- her sister.

Though Sae might seem pretty durable, able to regenerate herself, when wounded, she's very vulnerable. Sae is nothing more than a 15 year old girl, still, along with the mindset, so she possesses no super strength or super powers. Just malice. Sae's actually quite terrified of cameras, for all the right reasons, as the Camera Obscura is the main weapon in Fatal Frame. It does wear down on her soul, and just plain freaks her out. A good way to keep Sae off your back is by carrying a CAMERA. However, Sae won't divluge on WHY cameras freak her out. Naturally, because Sae is of the darkness, she's very, VERY weak to white magic or holy. Sae frequently mentions a "Makabe-san", time to time, some might mistaken it as her imaginary friend, which is humorous and understandable. Because Seijiro Makabe (The Kusabi) was a failed sacrifice, thrown into the Hellish Abyss in the same night, AND he came out with with Sae after she was killed, the ghost is attached to her. Sae has a strong link with the Kusabi, not having full control over him. Unlike Sae, Makabe has no idea if he's even dead or not, or what realm he's in. In game, The Kusabi kills you with one hit, however, since that's practically godmodding? He cannot, but can drain energy.

The Mourners were the people who volunteered in the Crimson Sacrifice, those who threw in the bodies of the sacrificed twins. They are blind. Either their eyes were gouged out or they went blind by looking into the Hellish Abyss. Either way, they are blind spirits, a lot of them linger on Sae, thinking she's to be thrown into the Abyss. They do damage, when they corner in a fair enough number. They rely on sound purely, and feeling. The Mourners might have a vague idea, knowing the ritual has failed. They are nothing more than stuck on Sae, too, grouped together, seemingly in limbo most of the times, unless Sae pikes enough energy to lure them out, making them think she needs to be tossed into the Abyss before it spills over. Oh, and they're dumb as rods, too. Very much unrelated, but further information about the Fatal Frame 2 ghosts can be found here.

Random Facts

  • Once again, if you haven't noticed, Sae is terrified of cameras.
  • When Tidus had gone streaking, Sae decided to join in, too, for no apparent reason.
  • Sae has an affinity for anything sugar-wise, to keep her going. Or anything that keeps her awake at night. Err, I don't even know if zombie girl here sleeps.
  • Considers Kirie Himuro (the main Yurei of Fatal Frame 1) to be her rival.
