Obtchnok is an avatar of fear that is a triune entity, split into three facets that can combine into one should the need arise. The three faces of fear attacked Yelestin in their travels through the Umbra, finding sport in attacking Master Tzun and keeping him from monitoring his proteges in the other realms. Tzun arranged a trap, and lured the demon into the depths of the Jungle Temple to the north, where the living vines and vegetation surrounding the ruins created a ward keeping everything that entered from escaping. Using his mastery over his own mind, he trapped himself and the three visages of fear within an endless mental battle, resigned to the sacrifice needed to contain the spirit. Only when Robert stumbled across them did they break free, entering into a contest of wills once more. After trapping Robert in his own mind for what seemed like ages, the neophyte mage was freed with the help of Jarrod and Julia, and defeated the spirit and bound it within him using its own name.
