Jade Wei is the ghost of a 14 year old girl that died from dysentery on the trip over from China during the early migrations of the family. Despite her death she's kept an upbeat outlook on life, or her afterlife as the case may be, latching onto the children at Wei Society and acting as their invisible big sister. When not performing tasks for the ancestors, Jade often indulges in typical teenage behavior, going with Miao Yin shopping or to the movies, watching TV in the various apartments, hanging out and listening to the radio. Recently Jade was given permission to assume the role of instructor to Miao Yin as a minister of Heaven.
