so don't turn away now;

There once was the youngest daughter of a high noble family, quiet, clever, kind and beautiful, the most promising of the eight children born to her mother, the Lady of Dreamfall. The succession did not follow traditional lines in that only the bravest, most suited to rule would inherit, manifesting itself in a cutthroat competition that usually resulted in only one child left alive. And so it happened, again, that the eldest daughter of the High Lady, Aleria, killed her siblings, one by one.

Her youngest sister was her favorite, they had always been close, and so she would have spared her, save that Aleria realized that she was too smart, too capable, and that she threatened her chances to get the throne. And in the end, ambition won out over love.

One evening, when the youngest had returned from a long journey, her eldest sister greeted her with a smile, and invited her to sup with her. And it was her undoing that she was too weary to see the gleam of triumph in her eyes when she accepted.

The wine was poisoned, with half of a special poison that did not kill unless both halves were ingested. She did not suspect, at first, as Aleria drank the wine, too, both eating food from the same platter. However, she had poisoned the fresh figs, a fruit that she knew the younger girl loved, and a fruit that she herself couldn't eat without breaking out in hives, and without thinking, the girl ate one.

Once complete, the poison acted swiftly. and the girl who would become Stories died within moments, in agony.

Only, she did not. A man came to her, and offered a chance for revenge. To avenge her once-beloved, once-adored sister's betrayal. Power to see it done, to ruin her life utterly before the end.

(do you want to die?')

And in rage, she took it, and cast her name into the Void, and became Stories of the Ungentle Fall, Moonshadow in service to the Walker in Darkness.

For two years, she has served him well, and competently, gaining a fair measure of her Deathlord's trust.

Her first-and thus far, only-personal project that she has found time to advance was to orchestrate the downfall of her traitorous sister, Aleria, who had indeed become the Lady of Dreamfal, repaying betrayal with betrayal. In the guise of a ghost haunting her, she drove her past the brink of madness, broke her mind apart with dark truths and shame, drained all her hope away, poisoned the minds of all she cared about against her, and when she had taken away everything Aleria had cared about, left her alive.

Which may probably be a mistake.

these are the scars that silence has carved on me;

Stories is a gentle, passive-looking girl, beautiful, and somehow sad: she always keeps that gentle passive sadness on her face, and in her soft sweet sad voice, even as she whispers dark truths to shatter the mind and all hope. Before her Exaltation, her hair was a deep, sunlight gold, and her skin bright with health: the power that came with the Black Exaltation that courses through her veins has drained the sunlight from her hair, left it white-blond, drained the color from her skin and left her pale as snow.

She normally wears a simple, long black dress, with black gloves. Soulsteel chimes that look like very expensive hair ornaments are wound through her hair.

they've given up believing;

Stories, on the surface, seems to be a kind, gentle girl, soft-spoken and sweet. And perhaps she may have been all that once upon a time. But that was before her sister betrayed her to her death, and the power of Oblivion filled her soul.

She is still soft-spoken, but is quietly, viciously conniving, taking quiet pleasure in breaking people's hearts and wills so that they embrace the Void and seek it of their own accord, too broken to even bear the possibility of Lethe. She enjoys her work, though prefers to keep her hands clean of blood herself.

She is not pleased with the ghostly remnants of her last incarnation's voice in her head, that death itself would not silence, that whispers louder then even the Neverborn, trying-and failing-to drive her away from Oblivion's cause.

this is the fate you've carved on me;
