[20:03] <Cherice> I got a present! :D
[20:03] <Cherice> ....from a creepy-as-fuck doctor-thing, but I got a present! :D
[20:03] <Tanya_Greene> There was a door, and a present.
[20:04] <QuicksilverFox85> Heh
[20:04] <Cherice> It was a key without a lock to go in!

[20:15] <@uhrwerk> A key without a lock, and a door without a keyhole... We open with our heroes huddling on the bottom landing of a dank, subterranean staircase as Cherice examines the featureless door that's the presumed exit. At her feet sits an open gift box, green velvet spilling out of it haphazardly
[20:16] * Miles is now known as Miles_Brandenburg
[20:17] <@uhrwerk> (http://www.editthis.info/deadhaus/Session_8 <-- Last session's log, in case anyone needs a quick refresher on where we left off)
[20:17] <Cherice> "This is so fucking crazy." Cherice stares at the door in consternation, then kicks it irritably. Her boot makes a hollow booming noise as it connects. "What the fuck does this go to anyway?"
[20:18] <Tanya_Greene> "... We don't want to go downstairs..." Tayna whispers to herself, audibly frightened.
[20:20] * Cherice glares at the wrought-iron vined key in her hand, and the ridiculously cute little wooden heart fob hanging off it on a green ribbon.
[20:20] <Miles_Brandenburg> "We don't want to stay here either." He looked back behind him. "...Tentacles."
[20:21] <@uhrwerk> The door creaks open a narrow crack at Cherice's loving ministrations. The scent of stale air and something... foul... wafts out of the opening.
[20:23] <James_Sessenwick> "...Well, maybe there's an exit this way." James says, perhaps sounding a bit more hopeful than he has a right to. He'd look at Miles. "You have the flashlight, you go first."
[20:25] <Miles_Brandenburg> "... Um." Miles looks at James. "What if something jumps me then we're alone in the goddamn dark, you really want to be alone in the game?"
[20:25] <Miles_Brandenburg> (dark*)
[20:26] <James_Sessenwick> "I have a zippo. I'm fine. You go."
[20:27] <kiyo> "Why don't you both go. We're not getting home very soon like this," snapped the nurse.
[20:27] <Cherice> "She has a point. Smells like there's nothing back here but the sewage line."
[20:27] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya flinches at the nurse's snap, even though it's not directed at her.
[20:28] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...Nurse goes first?"
[20:28] <James_Sessenwick> "...Ookay, yeah, that works."
[20:30] <Miles_Brandenburg> He looked around the group. "Any objections?"
[20:30] <Cherice> "If someone doesn't fucking go, I will." The Cajun lady looks fidgety.
[20:30] <Cherice> (Cherice: SOMEONE JUST GO D:<)
[20:30] * Sparda (~Sparda219@MagicStar-E389538E.hsd1.ca.comcast.net) has joined #deadhaus
[20:31] <kiyo> Since the men lacked balls, the nurse went first.
[20:33] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles falls afterward to give the dame some light to work with.
[20:33] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya goes after them.
[20:33] <@uhrwerk> Chastity pushes open the heavy, scratched metal door to the tortured cries of disused hinges... Only to reveal a sunny, if dilapidated hospital corridor. Based on the furnishings (and the rusted iron and wicker wheelchair that's casting its long shadow down the hallway), the wing appears to have been built in the '20's or '30's (and never updated)
[20:35] <@uhrwerk> There's a slight breeze, carrying the scent of decay to you from further down the corridor
[20:35] <James_Sessenwick> James would follow after them, and, after squinting for a moment, put out his zippo. "...What the hell?"
[20:36] <Cherice> "You know, I don't even fucking know what time of day it is anymore." The more annoyed and uneasy she gets, the more she swears. That easygoing attitude seems to have quickly worn off.
[20:37] <Cherice> "I wish this place would make up its goddamn mind."
[20:37] <Tanya_Greene> "... Did we time travel?" Tanya says, once again in a very hoarse, low voice.
[20:37] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Don't be crazy, that's impossible."
[20:37] <Tanya_Greene> "So are zombies..."
[20:37] <James_Sessenwick> "Did you just fucking say it was impossible after that shit!?"
[20:38] <Cherice> "Are we going to go in or not?"
[20:39] <@uhrwerk> (James, make a (Wits + Composure roll))
[20:39] <kiyo> Chastity had already taken a few steps in, peering at the hallway critically for a long moment.
[20:40] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Well there is a difference between seeing crazy shit and doing something they call impossible, goddamnit!"
[20:40] <@uhrwerk> Just as James snaps his zippo shut, he notices its flame glinting off the inexplicably shiny corner of a patinaed brass plate on the wall.
[20:40] <Tanya_Greene> Tayna steps inside, trying to remember what sort of fictional experience would help her with time-traveling zombie survival horror. She couldn't think of anything.
[20:41] <@uhrwerk> A plate that reads "Ashton wing. Donated by Dr. C. Ashton, 1917. "Knowledge through Sacrifice. Freedom from Knowledge." "
[20:41] <James_Sessenwick> "...Fuck me."
[20:41] <Cherice> "What?"
[20:41] <James_Sessenwick> "This wing was donated by that doctor. Almost a fucking century ago."
[20:42] <Tanya_Greene> "... Maybe it's an ancestor of his?"
[20:42] <Cherice> "Ashton ain't an uncommon name, she's got a point."
[20:43] <Cherice> Cherice seems more than willing to believe this. There has to be *some* kind of logic in all this, somewhere.
[20:43] <James_Sessenwick> "Would any other goddamn explanation make sense, given what's happened?" James says, with a slightly over-taxed chuckle.
[20:44] <Nadia_Ballard> (Brick Total: 1)
[20:44] <Cherice> "Look, does it even matter?"
[20:45] <Tanya_Greene> "If he did build it, why doesn't he work here? >>"
[20:46] <James_Sessenwick> "I... think Cherice is right." James says, getting a grip on himself. "Until we find the exit, it doesn't matter."
[20:46] <@uhrwerk> ((Visual Aid time. This is pretty close to how I'm picturing the Ashton Wing. ))
[20:47] <kiyo> The nurse was slowly wandering ahead, in the meanwhile. At least sunlight was nice.
[20:48] <Tanya_Greene> "This place is better than the basement, at least..." Tanya peers onward.
[20:49] <James_Sessenwick> James would slip past into the hallway after her. "Weren't we in the basement? And didn't we head down?"
[20:49] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...Maybe the building is built on a hill?"
[20:49] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...In the middle of a goddamn flat lot, fuck ."
[20:50] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles decides now is a good time to start rearranging the backstock in his mind.
[20:50] <Tanya_Greene> "... Maybe it was an optical illusion?"
[20:50] <@uhrwerk> At the far end of the corridor is a large, vaulted door with some kind of symbol on it... Two other doors branch off from the left side of the hallway, spaced at roughly even intervals. One is a set of double-hung swinging doors, the other is smaller and wooden. Tarnished nameplates hang beside both of them.
[20:50] <Tanya_Greene> "They have buildings built like that..."
[20:51] * Cherice approaches the nameplates, squinting to read them, and looking for keyholes. This thing has to be good for *something*.
[20:52] <@uhrwerk> The double doors lead to a morgue, and the other, nicer door appears to be for Doctor Ashton's personal office.
[20:53] <Cherice> "Hmm. Dead people which may or may not *actually* be dead or an office that might have paperwork, and information."
[20:54] <James_Sessenwick> "...It's his office. I'll take my chances with the dead peple."
[20:54] <Tanya_Greene> "Why is it that nobody seems to work in this otherwise fairly normal hospital wing? >>"
[20:54] <James_Sessenwick> (people*)
[20:54] <Tanya_Greene> "Does this wing even exist?" Tanya looks at the nurse.
[20:56] <kiyo> "Hm?" The nurse straightened, having been reading the nameplate as well. "We're here, aren't we?"
[20:56] <Tanya_Greene> "... Have you ever been here before?"
[20:56] <Tanya_Greene> "It is SUPPOSED to be under the basement?"
[20:59] <James_Sessenwick> "There's sunlight. How is there sunlight underground?"
[20:59] <James_Sessenwick> "...Can we stop talking and pick a fucking direction!?"
[21:00] <kiyo> Sigh. "I don't work in this section." She knocked on the small wooden door lightly.
[21:00] * Cherice marches towards the office door.
[21:00] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...So what's outside if we're fucking underground?"
[21:00] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles takes a peak outside.
[21:01] <James_Sessenwick> (Well shit.)
[21:01] <@uhrwerk> Out the window, Miles sees endless fog blanketing indistinct grey shapes.
[21:02] <Nadia_Ballard> (Brick Total: 2?)
[21:02] <Tanya_Greene> Tayna looks over Miles' shoulder, very interested in that very question herself.
[21:02] <James_Sessenwick> "Is there even anything out there?" James asks, nervously.
[21:02] <Tanya_Greene> "Here's a question. Do they have Wi-Fi down here?" Tayna unslings her backpack.
[21:03] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...So Girls On Guys twenty eight to forty will go into the bestiality section and titanic terrors of the depths will move to alternative section..."
[21:03] <Miles_Brandenburg> "And I'll call that guy about getting the fishermen's wife volumes eight through twelve back."
[21:03] <Tanya_Greene> "... Yeah, whatever." Tayna dismisses Miles' ranting, and flips open her laptop, "You guys pay for porn, anyway?"
[21:04] <Miles_Brandenburg> "And then Proust's republic of words will go next to the Holy Bible..."
[21:04] <James_Sessenwick> "I don't pay for anything. That's why I sleep under the bench at Krogers."
[21:04] <@uhrwerk> Chastity raps politely on the doctor's office door, but there's no response. The room 'feels' empty
[21:05] <Tanya_Greene> "Ouch. Sorry to hear that, James. Hm... Where are we..." Tayna boots up her laptop and resets the wireless card to search for available servers.
[21:05] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Employee discount, don't pay for shit."
[21:05] <Cherice> It occurs to Cherice to remember the Giant Fucking Door at the end of the hallway, the one with the symbol on it.
[21:06] <kiyo> "Doctor?..." At getting no response, she sighed again before stopping to doodle some notes into her mysterious files.
[21:07] <James_Sessenwick> James wanders over to Cherice. "You've been contracted to work here. You know this wing at all?"
[21:07] <Cherice> She leaves Miles to his porn inventory and cautiously approaches the vaulted doors, her fingers turning the key in them over and over like a nervous habit.
[21:07] <Cherice> "This one? No." She gives James a brittle smile. "Never seen this before."
[21:10] <@uhrwerk> Cherice finds the doors made of thick, scratched steel, with a curious symbol and a prose poem engraved upon them. The symbol is of a circle, containing an equilateral triangle, which contains a closed eye. There are keyholes at the three apexes of the triangle.
[21:10] <Cherice> "....Fuck me."
[21:10] <Miles_Brandenburg> "With pleasure."
[21:11] <Tanya_Greene> "Ah, c'mon..." Tayna moves across the hall, trying to get a signal.
[21:11] * Cherice chooses to ignore that. "So now what? One key, three holes."
[21:11] <Cherice> (I am going to read this, btw. >.>)
[21:11] <@uhrwerk> (Aloud? >:D )
[21:12] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Are you really fucking with that computer? We have better things to do than to fuck around on myspace."
[21:12] <Cherice> She leans forward, glaring at the script on the door.
[21:12] <Tanya_Greene> "Well Miles, perhaps you don't understand just what I can find with this thing, or have found, already."
[21:12] <Tanya_Greene> "It's also a test to see if we've time-traveled."
[21:13] <James_Sessenwick> James grumbles about bitchy people with money, and looks to read the poem himself.
[21:13] <Miles_Brandenburg> "What kind of fucking bullshit test is that? There is such a thing as not having a goddamn connection!"
[21:13] <@uhrwerk> The link light on Tanya's wireless card suddenly lights up, showing that she has signal. Bare seconds later, thorny vines slither across her screen, obscuring the desktop
[21:13] <Cherice> "... 'I am the master of my own fate. At my right hand, my conscious mind... Not leading, but a key to my enlightenment. My... body is another tool, not ruling but instead bent to the task of enlightenment.' " Nervously she reads aloud, she was never good at this stuff.
[21:14] <Miles_Brandenburg> "BREAK IT! BREAK IT NOW!"
[21:14] <Cherice> "There's more. 'Crowning them all, my soul, giving guidance and direction. When enlightenment is achieved, the Sleeper will awaken. But the Sleeper is still blind... He must clear his eyes of the light of the... Black Sun. Then, at last, he will see the true path.' "
[21:14] <Tanya_Greene> "Well look, I got one, and I got this shit again!"
[21:14] <Tanya_Greene> "You know what, this happened to you when you were in room 104, also."
[21:14] <Miles_Brandenburg> Mile's mind of course thinking tentacles.
[21:15] <Tanya_Greene> "... So I don't suppose I can pop the task manager through these things." Tayna Control-alt-deletes.
[21:17] <Cherice> "You get any of that?" she asks James.
[21:17] <Cherice> "Or you?" she tries the nurse.
[21:17] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Close the goddamn thing!"
[21:17] <James_Sessenwick> "...I think it means we need three keys." He would comment. "But I admit, the clues make sense. Let's see what that key looks like?"
[21:17] <James_Sessenwick> (the clues make no sense*)
[21:18] <Tanya_Greene> "Fine! Geez. We're not safe, and we're not in the past, either." Tayna closes her laptop and puts it away. "What is up with vines being everywhere, anyway?"
[21:18] <Miles_Brandenburg> "They grow out of anything..."
[21:19] <Tanya_Greene> "Like laptop screens." Tayna looks at Miles with a 'yeah, whatever.' face. "Yeah. Okay."
[21:19] <James_Sessenwick> "Who says they're even growing? They're moving so fast, you'd think they're alive."
[21:19] <kiyo> Chastity shook her head a little, looking a tad exasperated. "If we can't go this way, let's go another way."
[21:19] <Cherice> She opens her hand. Inside lays a wrought-iron key with a sort of ivy-vine pattern. The heart carving still dangles from its green ribbon, absurdly cheerful.
[21:20] <James_Sessenwick> "Well, down amongst the dead men, or are we going to go through that rat bastard doctor's stuff?"
[21:20] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles considers the fact the vines were able to grow through concrete and that glass was incredibly flimsy compared, yeah Tanya can deal with those things alone.
[21:21] <Cherice> "Whoever or whatever is controlling this place must really like vines and thorns and shit." Cherice shakes her head. "Well, looks like we've got two places to look."
[21:21] <Miles_Brandenburg> He moved away from Tanya behind Cherice. "So what's happening over here?"
[21:21] <Cherice> "Body makes me think that one's in the morgue though."
[21:21] <Tanya_Greene> Tayna moves over to the others, being thoroughly bummed that the evil spirits of this place weren't too fond of technology.
[21:22] <James_Sessenwick> "I imagine that prick thinks of himself as guiding us..."
[21:23] <Miles_Brandenburg> He leaned in on the poetry to look himself. "What's this then?"
[21:23] <James_Sessenwick> "I think all three keys are within reach? Why would you leave all these keys together, though?"
[21:23] <James_Sessenwick> James never had a playstation growing up, it seems.
[21:23] <Tanya_Greene> Tayna leans in to check it out also. "Hm. Some sort of trinity. Keys are probably color-coded."
[21:24] <Tanya_Greene> "Red, Yellow, and Blue is classic, but I doubt vine man is very much a classic person..."
[21:24] <James_Sessenwick> "Well, the key is a black."
[21:24] <Tanya_Greene> "But it's got a red heartfob, doesn't it?"
[21:24] <James_Sessenwick> "Right."
[21:25] <@uhrwerk> (The keyfob is wooden, actually)
[21:25] <Tanya_Greene> ((It's not colored?))
[21:25] <@uhrwerk> ((Nope.))
[21:25] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Enlightenment, in this shit hole?"
[21:25] <Tanya_Greene> ((Aw.))
[21:25] <Cherice> (I think the ribbon is. It was dark green or black or something.)
[21:26] <Miles_Brandenburg> (Ribbon is black, box was green)
[21:26] <Cherice> (Thankie.)
[21:26] <Tanya_Greene> "Let's consider, though. Do we really want to open a tri-locked door with hidden keys?"
[21:26] <James_Sessenwick> "What's the alternative, Tanya? You wanna sit down here?"
[21:27] <Tanya_Greene> "No... But... It's pretty ominious to be an exit..."
[21:27] <kiyo> Chastity was done making notes and tried the wooden door to see if it was locked.
[21:27] * Cherice reads the poem again. "Okay. Body, mind and soul. So a key for each. Bet you body's in the morgue." It makes a sort of sense. "Mind... well, that's a study or an office of some kind. That key must be in there."
[21:27] <James_Sessenwick> "Wait until we've been down here for awhile? Have to resort to cannibalism or some shit? Who'd go first? Miles is already wounded, how about him!?"
[21:28] <James_Sessenwick> James pauses for a moment. "...Okay, sorry. This place is weirding my shit out."
[21:28] <Cherice> Cherice was too dirt-poor to play any video games growing up.
[21:28] <@uhrwerk> The door to Doctor Ashton's office swings open with nary a sound. The room inside appears to be a well-appointed doctor's office from the past century
[21:28] <Miles_Brandenburg> "..."
[21:28] <@uhrwerk> (* turn of the century)
[21:28] <Tanya_Greene> "Mind, Body, Soul... It's like tri-stat, but why? Who the hell'd make a goddamn door based on that?"
[21:28] <James_Sessenwick> "Tri-stat...?"
[21:29] <Tanya_Greene> "It's a game system, characters have mind, body, and soul as their primary attributes, instead of specific things like dexterity and strength."
[21:29] <kiyo> She stepped in while the others were arguing, looking around the office for a moment before absently picking up some random trinket from the desk.
[21:29] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Mind, Body, Soul? Didn't captain planet do that?"
[21:29] <Tanya_Greene> "No, that's earth, fire, wind... Oh fuck, why the fuck do I know this shit?"
[21:30] <James_Sessenwick> "It's okay, I know it too." James actually chuckles at that. "C'mon, we need to investigate."
[21:30] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Same reason you lug around a computer to a hospital."
[21:30] <Tanya_Greene> "Heh. Alright." She ignores Miles and follows James.
[21:31] <@uhrwerk> Among all the papers and trinkets on the leather-topped mahogany desk -- something stands out: an unfaded, white sheet of typing paper bearing feminine handwriting.
[21:32] <@uhrwerk> In the far corner of the office, there's a crowded workbench set up. Strange glassware and bottles are stacked deeply upon it. The carpet under the bench is scorched and stained
[21:33] <James_Sessenwick> James would pick that up, looking it over. "Huh..."
[21:33] <James_Sessenwick> (The paper. Not the workbench.)
[21:33] <kiyo> She pockets the trinket absently before leaning to peer at the paper over the desk.
[21:33] <kiyo> (whoops. Didn't know you could teleport.)
[21:34] <kiyo> (*over his shoulder, then. )
[21:34] <James_Sessenwick> (No, no, you got a point.)
[21:34] <James_Sessenwick> The nurse has a homeless kid looking over her shoulder. What's on the paper?
[21:35] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles peaked into the room. "...He has a goddamn methlab in his room? That explains this hospital."
[21:35] <Tanya_Greene> "Maybe he's a chemist."
[21:35] <@uhrwerk> "Doctor, I've placed the 'items' in the morgue's safe, just as you requested. Like you asked, I changed its combination to the number of sins man must overcome before he is worthy of receiving the Divine Fire."
[21:37] <@uhrwerk> Miles says that, but there aren't too many meth recipes that call for ingredients such as "Aqua Fortis." and "Vitriol" (The two labels that are visible from across the room)
[21:37] <James_Sessenwick> "...Divine fire?" James had picked up another trait from standing next to the nurse: He had that notebook out of his bag, right now, writing down note verbaetim.
[21:37] <kiyo> "..." The nurse looked clueless and frustrated by it, glancing to James. "Not much use, is it."
[21:38] <James_Sessenwick> "Worthless to me."
[21:38] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles_Brandenburg: "Yeah because an established professor keeps a shitty little lab station in a well furnished office?"
[21:39] <Tanya_Greene> Tayna moves over to the workbench, examining the vial marked "Vitriol." "Well hey, this could come in handy in case of zombies, no?"
[21:39] <James_Sessenwick> "This note... the puzzle in the hallway... Do you think they're connected?"
[21:40] <Cherice> "Wouldn't shock me," Cherice says from the doorway. "This entire place is someone's sick joke, probably."
[21:44] <kiyo> "Well, if we solve it, perhaps the nightmare will end." She ran her fingertips along a shelf and picked up another trinket to pocket before heading out.
[21:44] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Yeah if you want to give them a nasty burn, I don't expect that amount is actually going stop anyone."
[21:45] <James_Sessenwick> "I... I'd say 'Just wait until I get my hands on that doctor', but I've seen slasher flicks. He's doing this on purpose, I bet..." James grumbles to himself, and then looks at the others. "Who feels like going to the morgue? It's what the note mentions."
[21:45] <Tanya_Greene> Tayna glances at Miles with a wry glare. "Ever the optimist."
[21:46] <Miles_Brandenburg> "It's sulfuric acid."
[21:46] <Miles_Brandenburg> "It's also used in what was that again? Oh right drug labs."
[21:46] <Cherice> "I was right then." Cherice turns. "Let's go take a look. Might as well."
[21:46] <Miles_Brandenburg> "That's why it's illegal."
[21:47] <kiyo> Those type of doors usually have small windows on them to minimize hitting people in the face, don't they? Chastity goes to peer into the morgue.
[21:47] <James_Sessenwick> James pauses in the hallway to copy down the etching on the door, complete with picture.
[21:48] <@uhrwerk> Even though the grimy windows, Chastity can see that the morgue is in disarray... And _something_ appears to be strapped to the examination table.
[21:48] <Tanya_Greene> "Just stop talking, okay?" Tayna sighs at Miles, and follows the others to the morgue.
[21:49] <kiyo> "..." She doesn't look so willing to enter, now, stepping back to make a note instead.
[21:50] <Cherice> "What's wrong?" Cherice leans over to peer through the window. "...Oh shit."
[21:52] <Miles_Brandenburg> "How about this one... Aqua Fortis? Guess what this one is used for? Well if you said SCIENCE! Well then you'd be right, guess what else it's used for? Oh right GETTING YOURSELF BLASTED!"
[21:52] <Tanya_Greene> "Would you just shut up already?"
[21:53] <James_Sessenwick> "Would both of you cut that shit out?!"
[21:53] <Cherice> "Fuck it." Cherice rolls her eyes at the arguing pair and slowly pushes one of the doors open.
[21:53] <Cherice> She could just walk in swinging but her experience with zombie!Jesus makes her loath to do so.
[21:54] <kiyo> Chastity peers in over the other woman's shoulder.
[21:55] <James_Sessenwick> James puts away his notebook and then looks back at the other two. "What's going on over there...?"
[21:55] <@uhrwerk> Once inside the morgue, Chastity can plainly see that one of the plague zombies has been strapped down to the autopsy table. Beside its side, there rests a bone saw. And above its head, a fan of letters written in crusted, dried brown ink (?) reads "The brain is the seat of the soul."
[21:55] <@uhrwerk> The zombie is twitching and straining against its straps
[21:56] <Cherice> (Ink my ass.)
[21:56] <@uhrwerk> Along the back wall of the morgue, a bank of flourescent lightboxes illuminate x-rays of the zombie. Something appears to be lodged in its skull.
[21:58] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Wait aren't we looking for the soul..?"
[21:58] <James_Sessenwick> "...You're... kidding me."
[21:58] <Cherice> "No guts, no glory."
[21:58] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...This is what you went to medical school for, right?"
[21:58] <Tanya_Greene> "... Isn't... Mind supposed to be figurative?"
[21:59] <kiyo> The nurse inched around the table to peer at the x-rays. Those were safer than actually looking at the twitching thing.
[21:59] <James_Sessenwick> "I think they mean it literally in this case."
[22:00] <Miles_Brandenburg> "It's like those frogs in high school."
[22:00] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Actually I skipped that class, but I bet it's like those."
[22:01] <@uhrwerk> The x-rays show a dense key-shaped mass lodged approximately where the corpus callosum would be in a healthy brain. There's a mass attached to the key, fuzzy and indistinct on the image.
[22:03] <Tanya_Greene> "This is sick..." Tayna wibbles.
[22:03] <Cherice> "We dissected cats."
[22:03] <kiyo> She squinted at the mass for a moment, trying to make sense of it, but then just shook her head and gave up. "It does look like a key in there..."
[22:03] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...Cats?"
[22:03] <Cherice> "Cats."
[22:03] <Miles_Brandenburg> "The fuck?"
[22:04] <James_Sessenwick> "I rather like cats..."
[22:04] <Cherice> "So is someone going to do this?
[22:04] <Cherice> "
[22:04] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...No."
[22:05] <Cherice> "Goddamn it, I'm a contractor, not a doctor. Someone else do it."
[22:05] <James_Sessenwick> "I... guess I will if no one else will?" He looks positively queasy at the thought.
[22:05] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Can we put it to sleep?"
[22:05] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya's in the corner, trying not to think about cutting a person's head open, zombie or not, just to get a key for some idiot's sick game.
[22:05] <kiyo> Chastity was just kind of staring off and chewing on her lower lip.
[22:06] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Do these things breathe?"
[22:06] <James_Sessenwick> "It's squirming. It's alive on some level."
[22:06] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Yeah but does it BREATHE."
[22:06] <James_Sessenwick> "Why the hell does that matter?"
[22:07] <Miles_Brandenburg> "So we can knock it out!"
[22:08] <James_Sessenwick> "...I... I don't think the doctor would make it that easy."
[22:08] <Tanya_Greene> "Is it still a person? What the hell happened to it?"
[22:08] <James_Sessenwick> James swallows hard, then walks over and picks up the bonesaw. "...I always thought I'd get gloves, at least, if I was a doctor."
[22:09] <kiyo> Chastity walked over slowly, drawing gloves from her pocket and holding them out.
[22:10] <James_Sessenwick> "Thanks, miss nurse." He'd snap his gloves on. Now is the time for the medical science.
[22:10] <Cherice> "If it makes you feel any better, I don't think you can actually kill something that isn't alive to begin with."
[22:10] <Cherice> Small consolation it may be.
[22:11] <James_Sessenwick> "I guess you're right. Someone going to help me and hold this thing down...?""
[22:11] <Cherice> "...I'll help. Might as well."
[22:11] <kiyo> Chastity had snapped on a pair of gloves as well and gripped the thing by its head.
[22:12] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya's watching from the corner, wondering if the zombie really isn't alive. Weren't there types of zombies that were like... Semi-alive?
[22:15] <@uhrwerk> The bonesaw snaps on with a teeth-grating buzz... As James applies the sharp, cutting blade to the thing's scalp, it begins to buck against its restraints and scream in horror, frothy black spittle flying from its lips.
[22:16] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...I can't fucking believe this." Miles walks out of the room, he wasn't going watch the homeless kid cut open some one's head.
[22:16] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya cringes, and steps back again. Clearly, she's failed another sanity check.
[22:16] <James_Sessenwick> James would lean his head back, and after a deep breath, begin sawing on the zombies head. Oh, and trying not to vomit.
[22:16] <James_Sessenwick> (4 dice / target number 8 / difficulty 1. 1 10 3 3 9 vs TN 8 = 2 successes)
[22:17] <Cherice> Cherice shudders inwardly but keeps her grip firm on the zombie's legs, pinning it to the table.
[22:17] <@uhrwerk> Blackened, congealed blood flies everywhere as the saw makes short work of the thing's brittle skull. After a minute's work, the zombie's decayed brain is exposed. Some grey matter oozes out onto the table like rotten jelly
[22:17] <@uhrwerk> (James, Morality roll please)
[22:18] <kiyo> The nurse gripped the thing hard enough for her knuckles to turn white, turning her head away and giving her list of things to buy another reciting. She forgot the melons this time.
[22:19] <Cherice> A deep, wracking cough comes from Cherice's end of the table. It's either that or puke.
[22:19] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya's turned around, leaning over a table and trying not to listen to the squishing sounds.
[22:21] <James_Sessenwick> James drops the saw when it finishes, nodding. "Well. There we go. Now, only one more thing to do." James reaches into the thing's brain, trying to ignore the feeling not unlike a hybrid of sour cream and wet cardboard. After a moment, he would reach and grab something amazingly solid. A key!
[22:22] <James_Sessenwick> "..That... wasn't so..." James lets the bonesaw clatter to the ground, and makes a bee-line for the sink or whatever approximates it to vomit his guts out.
[22:22] <@uhrwerk> The zombie's body buckles and shudders one last time as James pulls the key free with a wet slucking sound.
[22:22] <Tanya_Greene> "Oh god... Why are we here?... Why is this here?" Tanya asks the table.
[22:23] * Cherice coughs again, wiping her lips with the back of one hand and looking at the newly acquired key.
[22:23] <@uhrwerk> The key, once rinsed off in the sink, is revealed to be a red-enameled, old-fashioned key attached to a small toy angel
[22:24] <Cherice> "Two down, one to go," she laughs in a hoarse, slightly cracked voice.
[22:25] <Cherice> (Read: so glad there is no sanity roll in this game. :P)
[22:25] <kiyo> Chastity had taken the gloves off and thrown them on the corpse, backing away to crouch some distance away, taking deep breaths.
[22:25] <kiyo> (there's morality?)
[22:25] <Tanya_Greene> ((Mechanics or not, I know a san-blasting situation.))
[22:28] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles peaks back in and looks at the still corpse. "Oh fuck. Oh fuck. Oh fuck..."
[22:30] <James_Sessenwick> "Fuck you!" James calls from the sink, having finished expelling what remained of a doctor pepper and four corner store taquitos. "You didn't have to..." He coughs a few more times, and holds up the key, which he managed to clean in the sink as well. "Look, it's done."
[22:33] <Miles_Brandenburg> "No, it's not done."
[22:33] <James_Sessenwick> James lights a cigarette, to get the puke taste out of his mouth. "Can we just fucking leave this room now?"
[22:34] <Cherice> "Please."
[22:34] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Well where's the last key?"
[22:34] <Tanya_Greene> "Maybe we missed something in this room?"
[22:35] <kiyo> Chastity finally rose and brushed back a few loose strands of hair before glancing around.
[22:36] <Tanya_Greene> ((Note she didn't read the letter talking about the safe in the morgue.))
[22:40] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Maybe back in the office?"
[22:40] * Cherice is still leaning over the basin, suppressing her gag reflex with another coughing fit.
[22:41] <James_Sessenwick> "...There was a letter."
[22:41] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Hmm?"
[22:42] <James_Sessenwick> "Written by some woman. Mentioned a safe, and divine fire in here. I don't think that this key was it. Why don't you look for it, Miles?"
[22:46] <Tanya_Greene> "There's a safe in here?
[22:46] <Miles_Brandenburg> "There is fire in it?"
[22:47] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya does a cursory scan for a safe.
[22:47] <@uhrwerk> Tanya quickly spots a small evidence safe under the medical examiner's desk. It appears to be locked with a digital combination keypad
[22:48] <Tanya_Greene> "... Digital combination keypad... Morgue. Zombie on the table. Clues to the safe in another room." Tanya walks over to the safe.
[22:48] <Tanya_Greene> "There had better be a goddamn chaingun in this thing."
[22:48] <Miles_Brandenburg> "...What?"
[22:48] <James_Sessenwick> "Why would that be a bad thing?"
[22:49] <Tanya_Greene> "Give me the clue again?"
[22:49] <James_Sessenwick> "One sec. I wrote it down."
[22:50] <kiyo> "...Seven?" Chastity might be thinking out loud.
[22:50] <Tanya_Greene> "Seven isn't enough numbers. There'll be three."
[22:50] <James_Sessenwick> James pulls out his notebook. "I quote, 'Doctor, I've placed the 'items' in the morgue's safe, just as you requested. Like you asked, I changed its combination to the number of sins man must overcome before he is worthy of receiving the Divine Fire.'"
[22:51] <Tanya_Greene> "Just as he requested, and she changed the combination, why the fuck does it have to be precisely worded?"
[22:51] <Tanya_Greene> "The clue is different, though. She's supposed to give us the combination directly."
[22:52] <Tanya_Greene> "Huh... Divine fire."
[22:52] <kiyo> "Seven would have made sense." The nurse choffed and turned away to make more notes.
[22:52] <Tanya_Greene> "Seven seven seven, the number of God. Not the number of sins, though. Never heard of that."
[22:52] <Tanya_Greene> "If I get the combination wrong, it might spawn something, because this guy is demented and an asshole."
[22:53] <James_Sessenwick> "Does... anyone know anything about this stuff?"
[22:53] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Probably a goddamn trapdoor."
[22:53] <Tanya_Greene> "Nawh, it shouldn't be."
[22:54] <kiyo> "Never heard of the seven deadly sins?" Wry tone.
[22:54] <Tanya_Greene> "Seven deadly sins. Yeah, okay. Seven it is." Tanya taps 7 on the keypad.
[22:55] <@uhrwerk> The display flashes three asterisks and beeps, but nothing else happens.
[22:55] <Tanya_Greene> She presses it twice again. "Come on, lucky 777."
[22:56] <@uhrwerk> The display clears and the safe beeps slightly longer, but Tanya does not hear the bolts retract
[22:56] <Miles_Brandenburg> ((Miles rolls 3 dice to remember God 3 successes
[22:56] <Miles_Brandenburg> 10,10,10))
[22:57] <Miles_Brandenburg> (Miles rolls 3 dice to To yes for success 1 success 4,6,8)
[22:57] <Miles_Brandenburg> "I wonder if it's um..." He brainstorms real hard.
[22:58] <Tanya_Greene> "Check the zombie's arm."
[22:58] <Tanya_Greene> "Does it have symbols carved on it?"
[22:58] <Miles_Brandenburg> THINKING CAAAAAP
[22:58] <kiyo> Chastity doodled more before sighing. "Try the number of man."
[22:58] <@uhrwerk> Miles remembers reading that, in the Buddhist tradition, man must overcome 108 sins (or temptations) before they ascend to Nirvana
[22:58] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Buddhism."
[22:58] <Miles_Brandenburg> "We're thinking to western."
[22:59] <kiyo> (augh, mixing religions. )
[22:59] <@uhrwerk> ((Academics! Not a dump stat))
[22:59] <Tanya_Greene> "... Okay. Suggestions?"
[22:59] <Tanya_Greene> ((I have academics. XD Can I roll eet?))
[22:59] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Sins and we think christ and all that shit, but other religions have sins as well. It's 108."
[23:00] <Tanya_Greene> "108 it is." Tap tap tap...
[23:00] <Tanya_Greene> ((Roll(5d10)+0:
[23:00] <Tanya_Greene> 8,6,1,9,3))
[23:00] <Tanya_Greene> ((2 sux on my own int+academics roll, if it matters.))
[23:01] <@uhrwerk> The safe makes a "CHUNK" sound as its locks release. Inside is a solid gold brick, a folded sheet of ancient-looking parchment, and a snub-nosed revolver with 2 speed loaders
[23:01] <@uhrwerk> ((You remember the 108 temptations from Fatal Frame. ))
[23:01] <Tanya_Greene> "Hah! Martianbuddy loves me still." Tanya takes the revolver.
[23:01] <Tanya_Greene> "And um, who wants the gold?"
[23:01] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles hopes she isn't the first to snap."
[23:02] <James_Sessenwick> "...That isn't a key."
[23:02] <Miles_Brandenburg> "No shit."
[23:02] <James_Sessenwick> "Fuck you."
[23:02] <Cherice> "Someone's fucking observant."
[23:02] <James_Sessenwick> "Fuck both of you."
[23:02] <Tanya_Greene> "But we get another clue..."
[23:02] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya takes out the parchment and reads it.
[23:02] <Cherice> "I don't do jailbait."
[23:02] <Tanya_Greene> Aloud.
[23:02] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles begins to crack up.
[23:03] <kiyo> "Enough juvenile language." Nurse peered at parchment too.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> Tanya reads, "Seek you the mastery of the white,
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> seek you the Philosopher's Stone.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> The Philosopher's Stone must be approached with a noble heart, full of strength, full of resolve -- form the water of strength.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> From strength, royal bloodlines doth spring. Know you this: only a man of royal blood is worthy of the Truth -- in royal blood must the Stone be annointed.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> This truth may even sons and brethren part. But some things they cannot share: truth and the power -- these are for the worthy alone to share.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> Yet as precious gold may spring forth from the rough base,
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> Shining gold may yield to the base within.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> Through the common and not the royal, the black sun's light will shew the way.
[23:03] <@uhrwerk> "
[23:03] <Miles_Brandenburg> "I love you guys."
[23:04] <Tanya_Greene> "Gold, base. Implies chemisty."
[23:04] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Poor acid on brick, receive drugs."
[23:04] <Tanya_Greene> "We have to melt the gold bar, because the key's in it?"
[23:04] * Cherice laughs at Miles despite herself.
[23:04] <James_Sessenwick> "That sounds logical." James cracks a grin. "Who can shoot a gun?"
[23:04] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya chuckles to Miles, "New meme, everyone."
[23:04] <Tanya_Greene> "I can. Very well."
[23:04] <Tanya_Greene> Tanya grins.
[23:06] <Cherice> "I can. I'm better with rifles and shotguns though."
[23:07] <Tanya_Greene> "My father was in the service, and I inherited his service pistol. I still shoot it sometimes, he was a big proponent of the second amendment."
[23:07] <Tanya_Greene> "I can handle this."
[23:08] <kiyo> Nurse wasn't going to argue, turning away and tapping the pen against her lips.
[23:09] <Cherice> "Mm. So what're we going to do about this then?"
[23:09] <Tanya_Greene> "We can use the vitriol in the office. As Miles said, pour acid on brick, recieve drugs."
[23:10] <Tanya_Greene> She stands and takes the brick back to the office.
[23:11] <James_Sessenwick> "Wait, wait. Hold up."
[23:11] <Tanya_Greene> "Hm?"
[23:11] <James_Sessenwick> "...Doesn't that seem almost a bit too easy?"
[23:11] <Tanya_Greene> "... Yeah. Why?"
[23:11] <James_Sessenwick> "Maybe we're missing a step or something."
[23:12] <Miles_Brandenburg> "You can't just pour sulfuric acid on gold."
[23:12] <Tanya_Greene> "Oh... You're right. We opened a safe." Tanya stops.
[23:12] <Tanya_Greene> "... Is the door locked?"
[23:12] <Tanya_Greene> "Huh? Why not?" She looks at Miles oddly.
[23:12] <kiyo> Chastity blinked a bit at all this.
[23:13] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Because it's not going melt gold."
[23:13] <Cherice> " 'Through the common and not the royal, the black sun's light will shew the way.' Wasn't there something about the black sun on the door too?"
[23:13] <Tanya_Greene> "Really? Oh, I think so..."
[23:14] <Tanya_Greene> "Might that imply that the common key within the royal gold would go into the blacksun door and shew the way, though?"
[23:15] <Tanya_Greene> "Honestly, we just have to get the key out, right? Acid seems straighforward, and it might not work, but this is crazyland, and I don't see any better ideas."
[23:16] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Well we also have the nitric acid."
[23:16] <Miles_Brandenburg> "And you wanted to pour it on dead people."
[23:17] <Tanya_Greene> "Throw it, actually. Crowbars aren't exactly ranged." Tanya sighs, "Geez, I didn't know it was part of the test."
[23:17] <Miles_Brandenburg> "we
[23:17] <Nakibe> (Dr. Ashton: 80% of your final grade will be determined by this test.)
[23:17] <Miles_Brandenburg> "We're in a fucking lab rat maze, what isn't anymore?"
[23:17] <Tanya_Greene> "Aren't you a porn store clerk, anyway? What do you know about chemistry? Here, if you're so smart." She tosses the gold at him, rather hard, "You fucking do it."
[23:18] <Nakibe> (Ashton: Oh, and... by the way? The lowest-scoring half of the class will be dropped. Into a vat of chemicals. And then dissected)
[23:18] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Yeah porn pays the bills."
[23:19] <kiyo> (*wonders how heavy that bar is anyway* )
[23:19] <Tanya_Greene> ((Probably pretty damn heavy.))
[23:19] <@uhrwerk> ((Actually, Tanya? Roll a thrown attack))
[23:20] <kiyo> (Miles gets head trauma. )
[23:20] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Okay so we're going need salt peter and probably some ventilation."
[23:20] <Tanya_Greene> ((XD Okay... That's what?))
[23:20] <Tanya_Greene> ((Strength +?))
[23:20] <Miles_Brandenburg> (Athletics) "Oh shi-"

[23:22] <@uhrwerk> ((Miles, take 3 bashing))
[23:22] <Tanya_Greene> ((I activate cascade of cutting terror... XD))
[23:22] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles goes sprawling across the floor.
[23:22] <Tanya_Greene> "Holy shit, are you okay?!" Tanya stops herself.
[23:22] <Tanya_Greene> "... Sorry... ._. That thing's heavier than it looks..."
[23:22] <kiyo> "! Have you gone mad?!" Chastity quickly steps over to Miles.
[23:23] <@uhrwerk> ((Also, Tanya, roll 4 dice for Morality please. You just attacked someone. Oh, and take a WP))

[23:23] <James_Sessenwick> "That's a gold brick!"
[23:23] <@uhrwerk> ((Yeah. That's good enough to prevent Tanya from dropping a point of Morality))
[23:24] <Tanya_Greene> ((Ack, gotta go soon.))
[23:25] <Tanya_Greene> "Geh, he wouldn't stop talking. >_< Damn, I thought he'd catch it..."
[23:25] <Miles_Brandenburg> Miles sits up rubbing his head. "At least that wasn't the gun."
[23:25] <James_Sessenwick> "You could have fucking killed him!"
[23:25] <Tanya_Greene> "Sorry Miles... I thought you'd catch it, I mean I did tell you to take it..."
[23:25] <James_Sessenwick> "...I... wait a goddamn minute! You have the fucking gun!"
[23:26] <kiyo> "This isn't one of your games!" Chastity checks to make sure Miles doesn't have a concussion or anything potentially ickydangerous.
[23:26] <Tanya_Greene> "I didn't mean to throw it at him, geezus!"
[23:26] <James_Sessenwick> "Are you going to mean to not shoot us, either?"
[23:26] <Cherice> "...Is he bleeding at all?"
[23:26] <Tanya_Greene> "I'm not shooting anyone! God, I told him to take the bar!"
[23:26] <@uhrwerk> Miles has a nice knot developing on the side of his head, but he looks fine otherwise
[23:26] <Miles_Brandenburg> "It's fine."
[23:27] <James_Sessenwick> "You threw it at him! It's gold! Jesus fucking... I'll be in the hallway. First person to make any sudden movement towards me eats motherfucking crowbar."
[23:28] <kiyo> Miss nurse fusses over the bump for a moment before deeming him well enough to not be in immediate danger from internal bleeding. Yet.
[23:28] <Tanya_Greene> "._. Sorry, it's just... The cutting people open, and the... Whole place, just crazy... Shit, and..." Tanya steps away from the others.
[23:28] <Miles_Brandenburg> "Lets just get the fuck out of here."
[23:29] <Cherice> "Agreed."
[23:29] <Tanya_Greene> "Sorry Miles... I didn't... Just..." She nods, "Yeah... Need to get out of this place. ._."
[23:29] <James_Sessenwick> James has made good on his word. He's waiting in the hallway, leaning against the door.
[23:31] <Cherice> "Let's do this. 'Shining gold may yield to the base within,' right?"
[23:31] <kiyo> Chastity eventually shuffles out, wiping off specks from her less than pristine uniform.
[23:31] <Cherice> Stick with the plan, Cherice, stick with the plan.
[23:32] <Tanya_Greene> "That's what it says... And the black sun's light will shew the way."
[23:32] <Tanya_Greene> "There's something about a philosopher's stone, too..."
[23:34] <Tanya_Greene> ((I reallly need sleep now. Class tomorrow and I have over an hour commute.))
[23:34] <@uhrwerk> ((Eh, okay. Let's just call it here then. We'll finish up next week. Robyn's falling asleep anyhow. ))
[23:35] <kiyo> (me too. x.x )
[23:35] <Cherice> (Sorry, guys. ._.)
[23:35] <Tanya_Greene> ((Any xp? >>))
[23:35] <@uhrwerk> ((Giant reward once you guys get through that door.))
[23:35] <Tanya_Greene> ((Whee.))
[23:35] <Tanya_Greene> ((Night. :3))
