Imperial Iranian Air Force

The Imperial Iranian Air Force is the air arm of the Imperial Iranian Army. Its purpose is to conduct aerial combat operations including, but not limited to: Close air support; aerial reconnaissance; transportation; search and rescue; ground attack; and other operations, in support of the other branches of the armed forces. It operates a large variety of aircraft, both fixed-wing and rotary, of all types and sizes, to accomplish its missions. The air force also has an air defense element consisting of anti-aircraft guns and air defense vehicles, whose role is to defend airfields, bases, and airports.
In total, the air force has around 100,000 personnel.
