"Well, there are others," Oscar says, "but yes, this is what happens to me on a daily basis."
"Sorry to hear that," you say. "I'm not sure there's anything I can do about it, though." His face falls, his whiskers drooping. "I suppose I could have a word with this guy, see if he'll agree to treat you better."
"That won't help," the otter says. "That'll just make it worse."
"Then what do you want me to do?" you ask.
"Own me," Oscar says desperately. "Take me as your own."
