With another atrocious and disappointing season in the rear view mirror, the Boston Red Sox can finally focus on their unforeseen future and what inevitably lies ahead for Beantown’s finest in 2016. Though 2015 wasn’t a year that Red Sox Nation needs to totally place in the deep crevices of their subconscious. It was a roller coaster ride for sure, but there were some glimpses of hope, and flashes of potential for this relatively young, but veteran-lead team.
In the pitching rotation, Eduardo Rodriguez was the focal point and major highlight of the staffs underwhelming year. Rodriguez really came into his own as a dominant southpaw who led the rotation on a multitude of occasions. He was Boston’s most consistent pitcher, and though there were a few hiccups along the way, performed well when it mattered the most.
Rodriguez finished the year with a respectable, 3.85 ERA and a 10-6 win/loss record. I’m sure management is hoping that the 24-year-old will pair nicely with Boston’s offseason addition of David Price, who the Red Sox subsequently signed to a whopping seven year, $246 million contract. But, we’ll analyze Price and his contract later on in this article.
