Hyde Road - Gavin Hart, 32 year old male

From Create Your Own Story

You are sitting in the corner of a coffee shop, Cafe 'L Casa, an Americano sits steaming on the table next to you. Your dark blue overcoat is draped across the table next to the coffee.

You are reading the local news paper that was freely available at the counter where you bought the coffee, it amused you that your picture was on the front page and you had been cautious when ordering to see if the barista would recognize you, your fears were seemingly unwarranted, the scrawny youth had probably never read a news paper in his life, the smart phone behind the counter, which you saw light up several times in the two minutes it took to brew your coffee is obviously his primary source of information.

Jack was sitting in the otherwise empty seat on the other side of your table. You have been trying to ignore him all morning, his condescending tone heckling you constantly, but right now he is quiet and looking out of the window, you aren't sure which bothers you more.

Outside a white three door hatch pull's up, it's lights lighting up the snow flakes that are gently falling in front of it. The engine stay's running for a short while but after a minute you see the lights turn off and the occupant exits the vehicle. The coffee shop door opens briefly as a woman enters through it. The little bell rings and the youth behind the counter puts down his cellular phone.

She is wearing a thick green coat with a flared bottom and neatly folded lapels, a broad belt accentuates her hourglass figure, fixed in the front of which is an over sized buckle. She has a light green scarf over her head, warm black stockings and pair of soft leather tan boots with a bit of a heel. Her scarf is concealing much of her face, but clearly the barista gets a look of her face as he pays her considerably more attention than he had offered you minutes before.

A quick exchange of words, and she makes her way toward the ladies room, removing her scarf as she walks, her shoulder length hair has a slight curl in it, and her eyes are a delicate blue, they remind you of something that you can't put your finger on right now, but she has a face that you know you could not have forgotten.

You glance across at Jack who is now looking intently at you. "I know what you are thinking. She's not for you Hart." He says with a thin smile on his lips. You look away. "You are welcome to try," he raises an eyebrow, "I know I would enjoy it." You place your newspaper in your lap and glare in Jacks direction. He lets out a little chuckle, "I am not making any promises Hart, but you know you should leave it alone. You will regret it, I know you Hart, I know where this will go, you know where this will go."

You take a sip of your coffee, Jack is right, you know where this will go, as he so bluntly put it. You pensively rub your chin, and take another sip. You need to keep a low profile and you really shouldn't be in town at all. Still there is something different about this woman, you have a very strong urge to meet her, to know her, an attraction you aren't sure the source of. You sip again on your coffee, it's getting a lot cooler now, she has been in there for quite some time now, you try to put her out of your mind. Jack is looking out the window again, the snow is starting to fall more thickly now, you've seen this weather before, a blizzard is coming. "We need to get back to the house Hart, you have the bag we have what we need."

Your distracted moment is abruptly ended as your curious muse exits the powder room, her coat in hand. She pays little attention to the room around her or you as see grabs the drink that is now sitting on the counter waiting for her, the barista looking very proud of himself, although he quickly looks at his phone when she glances up at him, it doesn't seem to bother her. She picks up a paper and tosses her coat over a chair two tables down from you and sits down with her back facing you.
