Hide behind a large rock and see who it is before showing yourself

You decide to play it cautious and see who's coming before letting them know you're here. You duck behind a large boulder and wait.
The vehicle soon comes into view. It's a Jeep full of Syrian soldiers. You decide not to come out. There's really no way you could explain being out in the desert alone without making them very suspicious. You consider attacking them, but decide against that too. The soldiers look very tense and on high alert, machine guns at the ready. Rebel attacks must be common in this region.
You stand back up after the Jeep has disappeared over the eastern horizon. You continue walking, hoping that another car will come by, a friendlier one. When the sun goes down, you make camp for the night in a small gully out of sight of the road. Your food and water are running low.
The next few days are more of the same, following the empty road and seeing no one. Your water runs out on the second day. You wonder if it would have been better just to take your chances with the soldiers. But too late to do anything about that now.
Thirst consumes you. You feel yourself growing weaker and weaker. Finally you pitch over and fall by the edge of the road, unconscious.
