Ask Professor Powers out on a date

You walk over to Professor Powers one day in the staff room. After engaging her in a conversation about Their Eyes Were Watching God, you summon up the courage to ask her out.

"Why didn't you just walk over and say you wanted a dinner date?" she asks.

"Two reasons," you tell her. "First, it took me a while to build up the courage. Secondly, I wanted to try and put you in a good mood and give you a favorable view of me before asking."

She laughs. "Very good thinking. And I like the fact you're a bit shy. I don't like men who try to act all macho and assert their so-called `dominance' over women." She pauses. "I accept your offer. Be at my house tomorrow at 6 p.m., and be ready to cook." She writes down an address.

• Ask Professor Powers what sort of foods she likes
• Just cook something you know you're good at making and hope she likes it
