You hook the steering wheel left and begin heading towards Israel. You need to find support, quickly, and heading into another hot zone doesn't seem like a smart decision.
The drive is the easiest thing you've been through so far, and you allow yourself to relax slightly. You'll have to consider what you'll do once you reach the checkpoint at the border. Although the CIA has clout in Israel, you're on an unsanctioned op and might not be able to rely on your credentials. But any other cover story will be subject to extra scrutiny; you're coming from Syria, after all.
Mulling over these details, you realize the car that was behind you at the fork is still following you. You can't make out any details through the rearview mirror beyond that there's at least two people in the car.
The fact that they're not trying to overtake you, and that if they were terrorists, they'd have to be suicidal to follow you all the way to the border, provides you with some assurance. But then who are they? You won't need any surprises trying to get through security.
