From Create Your Own Story
You make a jerky motion with your body and fall to the ground.
You lay there for a while and the finally hear footsteps. Your mother leans over to look. She pokes you with a stick.
"Maria? Are you dead?"
You try not to move but the grass is itchy and you have to scratch. But you hold it in and keep still.
"Oh please let her be dead so she can stop eating everything in the house."
"Wow, Mom! That's pretty dark," you tell her, feeling offended by that remark. Quickly, you get back down to play dead.
"Nice try. I can see you breathing," Mom says.
You've been caught. Shrugging it off, you walk up the bus and see a number of tardy students as well.
Really amazing for the first day of school.
