You figure most nerds are usually pretty harmless. Rude, but harmless. So you decided to sit down at the nerd's table.

As you sit, you see their complex machine laid out on the table in front of them, and are taken back by the denseness of it. Looping wires, decks of circuit boards and what looks like a glass cylinder of murky liquid in the middle of it. You can't tell for the life of you what it actually is, but it looks dangerous to be worked on in a school cafeteria - or a chemical testing lab for that matter. A few of the nerds eat between their tinkering but most don't even touch their food, more concerned about their work than lunch. They freeze and stop to look at you however, like you've just interrupted a flow of thought with your presence.

A skinny kid with dark hair and massive glasses stares at you cooly. "Excuse me? Are you lost or something, because you look like you couldn't find your asshole with a Lorenz Attractor..."

You shrug off the insult, mostly because you don't understand it. You were nerdy, but not THAT nerdy. "Just looking for somewhere to eat," you say casually.

"Well, look elsewhere female..." he continues, trying to brush you off. "Your presence is a pester to my psychic focus."

You don't move.

"Dammit, scurry off! Is there a seat shortage or is my sanity compromised? Don't cross me foo-"

One of the female nerds leans in and starts whispering hurriedly in his ear. His expression suddenly changes drastically. He tries to pass it off normally but you can tell he suddenly has a need for you...

"Look, we will tolerate your proximity but I do so to extend an offer...I can offer you a chance to be part of a once in a lifetime experience for a common peon to be a part of scientific history, witness and participant in a changing epoch for man...also I can probably arrange for you to get class credit as an extra bonus."

You roll your eyes internally. All you wanted was to just eat lunch, and now this is turning into a damn project! Still, these guys aren't ordinary nerds and while it might not be great for your reputation you still haven't met anyone else. It might be a lot of work though...
