"Do you have any suggestions for me to deal with this issue?"
"Yes. You should act like we're not on good terms. You can let him think that you hate me for no reason, or that something I did in school made you resent me. Tell him whatever you want, as long as you give him the impression that you dislike me."
"I understand."
"I still can't believe you had sex with Anthony on your first date."
"Jealous?"
"No, just surprised. And worried. I hope you were a good enough lay to keep him coming back for more."
"I was. You should've seen us--"
"Oh, I heard everything, remember?"
He slips one arm around my waist and whispers into my ear... "Your performance was lovely. I can't wait for an encore." He steps away, and I can't help but feel his magnetic pull... but when he smiles at me one second later, he sounds almost bored. "Well, good luck with your next date. Keep my phone nearby at all times. I'll contact you when I think of another lesson." Darren leaves, and I'm left feeling impatient.
