You are Bethany Andrews, a forty year old mother of one, with copper red hair and pale white freckled skin your husband is an accountant called Mike two years older than you and you have a teen boy named David.
Over the years you've tried to keep yourself in shape, and have done a good job of it, only carrying a few extra pounds. Life at the moment is good but boring, Mike's job is going well, the only fly in the ointment is David's friend, a black boy also called David, who everyone calls Big D, there's something about him you find unnerving and you're not sure if it is his attitude or his reputation.
